Great video! A cautionary tip -- 10 inches is NOT the actual baseplate size. It's just slightly over once you factor in the tiny gap between one baseplate that's joined to another. I wound up needing about an inch and a half more table space in my city when I turned my plans into reality (its a large layout -- all those tiny gaps add up!)

I haven't personally used it, but try out Inkpad. It seems pretty good. What you need to open the template file is something which can edit SVG files. Thanks for the comment PaPas Bricks!

Is there some reason why 32 x 32 plates are used for modulars? It seems to make the buildings so small inside, while 48 x 48 plates would make a better sized building.

why just don't use bricklink's studio designer?

That's certainly another way to do it!! I find Studio better when you are getting into the nitty gritty of the piece choice for your creations, but I haven't used it for making a larger city layout. In my opinion that would become cumbersome, especially if you have a lot of custom buildings in your city. For me, it makes more sense to lay it out roughly in 2D, but I do know friends who have laid out their whole city in Studio by importing the modulars so it's whatever you find easiest!
