Very helpful to see how you approach the scene, the sequence of washes, and how you manage edges. Thank you for sharing your expertise.

Oliver, thank you, sincerely, from the bottom of our hearts for this series. So many creators gatekeep this level of tutorial behind paywalls. I'm always reluctant to shell out money for that type of thing, because I don't know what I'm getting. You are very generous to share your techniques with the world, and you are doing a service to the collective spirit of art-making itself! I hope that your generosity finds its way back to you in abundance!

This series has really brought together all the exercises you have shown in the earlier videos. Manage edges, Defining light with dark put on negatively around.. Just amazing to see it in use! Thank you for it all!

This whole series is fantastic, but this particular episode is quite spectacularly good. It may be the best watercolour video I've seen. A great gift from a real pro.

Thanks so much Olly. I’m getting so much out of this series of videos. They are an antidote to ‘Learn how to paint X in 10 minutes’, which always exasperates me. Watching you use negative painting, rather than masking fluid is so helpful. Eagerly anticipating the book.

I really appreciate your organized approach to painting. This series is not only helping me slow down but allowing me to accept that it’s okay to do so and encouraging me to put more thought and planning into my paintings. I’m looking forward to both the remainder of the series and the release of your new book. Thanks Oliver.

Thanks for walking through this set of paintings on washes and edges. It’s really opening a few doors of hope for me to chase these skills and apply them to my paintings. I’m only a beginner but I am so inspired by your talent and so appreciative that you can share it with us to move us on in our journey to be better artists.

Oliver, thank you for this video! I never plan my paintings, by God’s grace they still turn out quite lovely. But I really need to be much more disciplined with planing my paintings before hand 😊.

Thank you Olly! Such excellent, meticulous instruction. I am loving watching this beautiful scene take shape and look forward to your next installment! It looks like you are using Rosemary & Co Kolinsky Sable series 8, is that correct? Would you mind sharing what sizes you are using? It looks like they hold a fabulous amount of paint, but what I found wonderful to see is that they can deposit tiny amounts where needed even when the brush is full! Thank you for taking the time to share your expertise and inspire us!!

Somehow, in previous videos, I missed the tilt of your board. It appears to be just a slight slope. I put a leather covered map weight (known to drafters as a leather burger) on my desk to raise the upper part of my blocks or board about an inch. Is this what I think I am seeing in the flat medium of a video? I find it very difficult to paint on an upright easel, because my hand keeps bumping into it. I have ordered your book: it sounds so exciting. So many other books about watercolor are boring, because they don't vary the subject matter or are sort of vague on issues of pigments or composition. Thank you for this continuation of your excellent series.
