How to Plant BARE ROOT FRUIT TREES in Your Food Forest!

Just found your channel, and I'm *so* glad I did! What a breath of fresh air! 😊 This is an excellent tutorial video for people brand new to planting bare root fruit trees. You did a great job explaining all the important aspects of this process, from start to finish (other than initial pruning). I especially appreciate your emphasis on back-filling with only native soil and mycorrhizal fungi. So much better (and simpler!) for establishing trees well from the beginning. (It's also recommended to face the graft union to the north or northeast to prevent possible sun scald on this vulnerable part of the tree, perhaps more important in a really hot climate like mine.) I have a small homestead with a fruit orchard as well (2.5 acres in northern California), and I really enjoy watching other YT channels dealing with permaculture, food forests, homesteading, gardening, and healthy eating. I love seeing how others do things and what they emphasize. Always inspiring and often entertaining, and I can tell your channel will be both of these! Thank you so much for the tip about orienting the graft union to the north! That makes perfect sense, especially in hot climates! Like you mentioned, I wonder if it isn’t as vital here in the Pacific Northwest since our sun produces so little heat. Love learning new tips like that and so glad that you shared.
