This is one of the best guitar lessons I've ever seen on youtube. I've been playing 40 years and this lesson explained to me how to solo around the fretboard with interesting ornamentation and slides. I never knew those slides were built into different pentatonic positions until now. Awesome and inspiring.

Steve's teaching method is the best I have ever seen, I think. He is so clear. and well-structured, and best of all, he doesn't rip out a difficult lick in the middle and sort of go: "there you are - pick the bones out of that!"

I am almost 50 and thought I was able to do on the guitar what I can already do and no more but you just showed me how my dad was always able to play those notes as he transitioned from one chord to the next and you made it so easy! Steve, this lesson came at exactly the right time! I was comfortable with most open chords and changing between them and just starting to think that it all sounded a bit samey. I knew the pentatonic scales but never made this connection, this opened up so many possibilities! Honestly I can't express how much of a gamechanger lesson this is for me. It instantly clicked and feels so obvious and natural now that you've explained it. Thank you so much!
@cynbillings3 жыл бұрын
I agree 100% with David here! This came at the right time and making this connection of this overlay helps me to begin to understand the origins of how soloing might come about. I totally agree, it's a game changer. I also really appreciate understanding the minor pentatonics and how they correlate to major pentatonics in a different key. This is HUGE!! Thanks steve!

Steve- After decades of toying around with a guitar, I committed to finally study and consistently practice once COVID struck and found myself in lockdown. I started with many of your videos and bought one on your courses. Then I discovered the multitude of other options and material available and found myself buying courses from a dozen other sites. So many choices. Although I made some decent progress, I realized after being blown away by this specific lesson, that I should have remained your devoted student. This is the only lesson that I have seen in that time that clearly articulates the chordal and scalar relationships so beautifully. You have a real gift Steve.

If you’ve been playing acoustic 6 months, watch this video. If you’ve been playing 6 years, watch this video. I’ve been playing 55 years. Yeah, I guess I knew everything Steve covered here. But I watched this video. I had to watch every second of this, because the subject is explained so clearly-so beautifully. Thinking back to when I had just been playing six months I can see my 15-year-old self getting a little frustrated maybe about my fingers not doing what I’m telling them to do. But if you start with this core knowledge covered here, you can speed up your playing skills; by years maybe.

All I can say is Holy Guitar insight! Not only did this help my pick strum thinking it completely and quickly gave me understanding of how to use the pentatonic up and down the neck and the theory. Tons to practice from 30 minutes of lessons. Thank you Steve!

Starting working on this today after watching your vid - too awesome how this is sounding right away. I've been working on pentatonic scales for just a bit, so this lesson was perfect timing to give something to do with that. Thank you - truly.

Very simply taught. Thanks Steve you make it very easy to understand. I've been on other sites, were they go out of their way to make it more difficult then it really is. "CHEERS"

Thank you so much. My guitar has been my happy place which I desperately need right now. Home with two pre-teens since March and will be home with them until sometime in the future whenever the school decides how they are going to educate through a pandemic. I was starting to get bored but this will keep me busy for a while. It’s fantastic to learn how to play and not just how to memorize

Stevs I'm new to your stuff but I'm playing a few years and always struggled with the strumming so I'm learning picking and watching you is so great to learn and you make it sound so simple, thanks
@itsmorphed64168 ай бұрын
I always struggled with strumming for years . I'm not bad now I feel . The best information I received was to strum without moving the arm too much , mostly from the wrist . But powered from the elbow and wrist. Relaxed too.

Thank You Steve, now it makes sense on what notes sound good to dance with between the chords, and some great ways to play them too. No more boring strumming from chord to chord. For us non finger pickers this really makes our playing sound so much better. As always your method of teaching is easy to follow and starts us on a new playing journey. Thank You SOOOOOO! Much

I appreciate how you laid all this out. I failed Music Theory back in 1990 and never got back to it. I also had 5 semesters of classical guitar which helped me write several songs. I'm not a great player, but I manage to write a lot of songs. Thank-You very much!
