Nine years ago you uploaded this, and I been semi actively trying to find a way to learn that fits my style of learning. Be it guitar (which I neglected for years) or coding. I love the video, the simple technique and idea behind it. But what I love most is, somehow, you found and explained why I struggle so much with learning. "don't feel like you can't have some fun with these things, because you're not far enough in your guitar playing or whatever that stuff is." Man, does that resonate with me. Just recently as well, I was building my own portfolio website and coded some silly details in to it. Showed it to my friend with 8 years experience and he went "how did you do that?". I mean, I don't know, I just tried stuff, wanted to achieve X so i went and tried to do X. This guy with years of experience was schooled by me on how to do something, cause that something was fun and quirky and original and out of the box. My guitar teacher years ago had me learn the 5 or 6 shapes of the pentatonic scale or something, so that I could solo. Remembering 5 shapes, going up but also down the fret board, for all the chords... yeah,... I quit after that. Cause it wasn't fun. It never clicked with me, it never resonated. Thanks for this video! I'll try to get better again!

Can you please tab out the song called ‘Ooh Baby’ by Cryer from the early 90’s ??
@donadams15052 күн бұрын
Let's be honest for a minute, the music world has changed and everyone has an answer for everything. The old days you picked up a tube amp there was nothing like it in the world, The 90's came and companies wanted something different and Randall made Dimebag famous on a Solid State amp ,and he had a signature series from that and it is the tone of Pantera, myself I had a nice deal with Crate Amps and like myself Marty Friedman, Dave Mustaine played the Blue Voodoo 120 tube amp and it was great but had a technical issue that if you didn't catch it it would trash the amp, at the same time they created a Solid State amp called Excalibur 2200 and it was amazing at the time as well .. These were the starting point for these digital clones like iRig and a few others I think they suck, they are dry, flat and you can fix it on your digital software on your computer but the idea is to make everything simple but you can't replace a tube amp with a digital sample it still needs fixed. The hard part is touring they want less and less gear and these things they have today make it hard to want to play I don't want to dial in everyone's tone before a show , I was so angry at one point I took only my Legacy pedal and put it in the board directly but they still had to dial me in .. I like the Synergy amps with the module setup because there is a tube and a tube sound like my Legacy pedal but it with a H-3000 and a Fractal reminds me of the old ADA days which I would love to have again so it's choices and how much you have really learned not just playing but tone. You ever believe you're going to record you better have tone because they don't want to play in the studio and they get mad if you don't know a good sound .. I hope this video goes into detail about the difference and the work it takes to get what you're after ...

Guthrie Govan admits he cannot tell the difference between digital and not. At least as far as sound. Enough said.

I feel like I’m “supposed” to buy a tube amp to be a proper guitarist. However I’m using a sold state analog Peavey and I love it. It sounds great to me and it’s loud enough to play with my drummer. I guess eventually the pressure will mount and I’ll get a tube amp. Strange problem to have I guess.

My old tube amp, father had it shop since the 70s. Fixed up for me the difference for me is that that warm hum when I flip the power switch is comforting. Hummmmm

During COVID lockdown some Nashville sessions guitarists were sending in their recordings to engineers/producers that were all Kemper, and the producers didn't have a clue whether it was a mic'd up amp or Kemper.. I've listened to many bands live where one guitarist was playing through his mic'd up JVM410 and the other guitarist was using his Kemper...and I can tell you from in the audience I couldn't decide what sounded better, it was just two good guitar tones.

Softube and Helix Native/Floor I am a fan of. Yet, playing real tube amps is such a natural feeling.

I'm 50 years old and I grew up listening to tube sound. But I use both - with a predominance of 95% digital. I like my tube amps. Years later, I repaired my 40W tube amplifier from the 1960s and I really like its clean channel and I love boosting it with my delicious-sounding DIY hi-gain preamp DrBoogie. In addition, I have a 20W Peavey 6505mh which, even at 1W, is extremely loud above Post Gain 1 (volume 1). But 95% of the time I use VST (Amplitube5, Tonex, MrHector) because it is incredibly convenient and sounds great. I can practice more quietly, use headphones, and after recording the DI, I can always change the VST and/or IR if I don't like the sound. Recording a tube amplifier at home requires time to set up microphones and a dedicated soundproofed room. Regardless of the circumstances, using VST at home is a blessing. Greetings from Poland.

For me it's more of a personal issue!!!. It will always be more difficult to equalize an amplifier than a pedalboard or rack of already programmed effects. For me, live, I always use a tube amplifier!!!.

I found that tube Amps have more depth to the sound, digital seems to be rigid . Just my two cents

Growing up when I first started playing I used solid-state amps because they’re much cheaper than Tube amps. when I got older playing in bands and stuff I saw the equipment that all my bandmates had and I went to tube amps because I just prefer the warm tone of them.

I don’t gig or ever have to carry my gear anywhere or do any recording or mixing, so I have no skin in the game on that front. Within the last year, I bought a scarlet focus, the BIAS FX2 software and a PG Spark 2. While all their offerings are extensive, and exhaustive, I feel like it’s a jack of all trades and master of none. Looking back on it now, I probably should’ve just bought a tube amp and kept it simple. Actually, I think I am going to get a low wattage tube and park a couple pedals and be done with it. There’s something, to my decaying ears, that just doesn’t sound right with the digital modelers. And perhaps I need to spend more $ on higher quality stuff, but at that point, I’d rather spend that on a tube amp.

while i use a boss gt6(with added Boss Mt2 for distortion), i run them into return of both my marshall 100 watt tube heads.. sounds crushing. I dont tour or play live(i use to), so lugging those heads, cabs is not an issue. For recording, i just mike the cabs. I know its old school, but ive been doing it this way for 41 yrs

Im personaly an old school type of person, and I prefer the tube amps, but must be honest digital stuff just makes life so much easier. But still , I love to be able to grab a guitar anywhere anytime and just play a song regardless of the equipment they have. My problem with this digitalized performances is that so many things are going on and the music is not so much live anymore. Most bands exploiting it and using so many effects and backing tracks. Pre - recorded vocals and guitar lines, or drum. When I attend to a gig, I want to see the band play live! I want to hear mistakes and all that, to see they are human too. To me that is an authentic experience.

ShreddMaster Steve Stine, you are a great guitar player no doubt about it. However Steve, to be more accurate it is tube amps versus solid state amps and analog versus digital. a tube amp will pass a digital signal just as readily as a analog signal all day long..
@castleanthrax18338 күн бұрын
You are correct. I've been running my Boss Gt-1000 via the effects return of my tube amp, as well as running it via a solid-state power amp. Both work well; however, the SS power amp is better for lower volume for me.
