It’s important to recognise that 3-bet pots need to be understood and navigated correctly. These are bloated pots where a lot of money is won or lost therefore it is vital that we formulate the correct strategy when approaching them.
In this weeks A Little BRÈINFÚEL I’ll give you some tips and tricks on how to become a 3-bet pot master!

2/5 is so easy to crush. This video explains it perfectly. Play tight and unbalanced. Very seldomly run a a big bluff. Use your opponent’s junky ranges to steal small pots. Make the nuts, and stack them. I’m making $45 per hour at 2/5 plying 30 hours a week

This is where the HUD on GG really helps sometimes - when I see a guy with a couple hundred hands of data and a 1% 3-bet range (once I saw someone with 1% PFR!) you pretty much have their hand face up and can fold everything besides set-mining pairs (if deep enough) and KK/AA. Then if the guy has a 20% 3-bet you can feel like QQ/JJ and AK/AQs are probably good value 4-bets that will likely be called by TT, AT, KQ, etc.

The only problem with all of this is raise sizes. These GTO charts assume a certain "Normal" raising paradigm (1st in 3x BB, 3 bet, 9x, 4 bet 27,etc.). And there is math behind that related to pot geometry. But in alot of these 1/2 cash games the raise sizes are GREATLY exaggerated. I just played tonight at the hard rock casino and the typical open was some where between 12 & $25 (6, 12.5 bb). Let's say you try the strategy suggested by these charts to 3 bet with AQ o on a bluff intending to fold to a shove. By the time it gets to that point half your stack is already in the middle! That's why I tend to flat where the charts say 3 bet or shove to pot control. But ALOT of adjustments are necessary to this strategy.

Hi Jonathan! 6-max cash .02/.05 : HJ: KQo : Players have been folding left and right to 2/3rd pot bets and to 3-bets preflop LJ raises to 3x bb (.15) I decide to 3-bet to 12x bb (.60) as your preflop GTO charts suggest CO calls for .60 & BTN folds SB raises to 1.30 for 26 bb I insta-folded. SB showed up with AA so woohoo! Regardless of whether they show up with AA or not...Easy fold for me right? I just wanted to say thank you because I wouldn't have ever considered folding KQo to a 4-bet but after watching a lot of your cash game content it seems like this was an easy fold for me. So thank you for teaching me how to fold! hahaha

At around 19:30 you said that if when you raise to 3bb and you get four bet to 9bb compared to when you bet 3bb and get four bet to 6bb your range should be wider for the larger raise. Why is that?
@mad1337nes
@mad1337nes 3 жыл бұрын
You numbers are off a bit bud. He said 3x to 12x (4x 3 bet size) is the chart, you have to call 9bb. If it goes 3x to 9x instead, you have to call 6bb. Should make sense without explanation that you can call with more speculative hands getting 2:1 vs 1.7:1 (33% vs 37%).

The BTN is incentivized to 3 Bet a really wild range most of the time so from HJ + you should 4bet or 1/2 top of your range and call 1/2 bottom your range , you can't fold for BTN 3bet if he is not a neat

I thought GTO meant that you're ambivalent against other GTO agents but you'll make money against every non-GTO strategy I mean, assuming we're running programs against each other, the true-GTO should win in the long term right? Exploits just help you make more money faster and also because there's no way to actually play GTO, may as well deviate logically.

With these 100bb charts: If you OR from HJ (3bb) with T9s and face a 3bet (9bb) from the button, is the SPR (~5) not to small for calling with suited connectors especially OOP? 🤔

Nope, because T9s does not have to make the flush or straight to win.
