Hi BlackRain79, I have noticed while playing on pokerstars that a lot of the fish/whales with huge VPIP and low AF could be divided into two groups. They are what I call the normal fish (FFCB 90%). It this a good stat to have included in the play stats section of your videos? As the secret nits seem to be "cooler machines" because if they are going past flop they have at least TP if not 2P+. Though I bet you already know all this, just might be a something others are yet aware of.
@BlackRain79Poker4 жыл бұрын
Hey Derek, there definitely are different types of fish and it is important to be aware of that. You can alter your strategy slightly depending on which type they are.

There seems to be a bit of negativity going on with these cooler videos and frustrated comments. Let me balance it out by sharing this advanced low stakes hand : Hero is UTG with aces and a 150 BB stack. Hero open ships. 3 calls.

AA is strong 1v1 But the more opponents there are, less likely you are to win.. Especilly if board is not paired. VS more opponents JTs play great or 67s or 89s

Thanks for the video, been hitting a lot of coolers lately. What hurts the most is when you spend hours building a roll with solid play, just to lose a huge chunk of it to these guys. I swear the fish never have anything unless I'm heads up. Bullshit I say.

I had a few hands like this in quick succession recently in a single 2NL session. Was $5-$6 down after losing stacks to high VPiP whales and a feeling tilted. Logic would suggest just stopping and coming back another day. I decided to double down and grind on. Ended up with $3 profit. Just have to be disciplined & patient. As usual my biggest issue is calling whales when they show aggression that 1 time they check/raise with the nuts. Or when I triple barrel a whale when I completely miss the board, only to get called all the way and lose to a pair of deuces.
@BlackRain79Poker4 жыл бұрын
Yup good advice 433bravo!
@nicks2106844 жыл бұрын
Ugh yeah. You get those whales that just seem to have your number sometimes. You triple barrel them with missed AK and they call you down with bottom pair. So you think “no more bluffing”. Next time you triple barrel them with TPTK or an overpair and they show up with some retarded two pair like 74 offsuit. Then you flop a set against them, triple barrel and they raise you on the river having hit their gutshot straight.

Id say some loose passive players could play this hand like this. Id do push at least at turn. Check raise on flop, to make pot a little bit bigger than 30% od stack. And then you can push on turn. Not sure if i would do any check raise on turn. Simply push out of position. Dont try to Play finesse WSOP style on 1/2 ¢ table. 😉

Im a kid interested in poker, but i always have to use the free poker apps that dont use real money and the people on there are incredible loose, always limp, ect, multiple times people have went all-in with say, eight three offsuit. And someone always wins with a crap hand because no one ever folds. Is there a strategy to beat these kinds of players?

yeah but they come and go like the wind. so whilst they stack you three times in a row with 74o against your JJ they leave and you end up with a sausage in your hand against regs that play 15% of hands having to grind back 200bb.

Do you have any content in playing at table with multiple whales at the same time. I’m talking two guys that never fold pre flop meaning it’s always at least 3 way and someone always hits something
@ugachaka61444 жыл бұрын
Vil 6 had A5 suited in the bb. At what point should he have folded? At the re-raise to 0.08 from the sb? or after the flop raise to 0.20 ? How would you have played this hand against the sb(imagine you had no stats on him)?
@BlackRain79Poker4 жыл бұрын
I probably would have called preflop as well. Would have folded the flop though in most cases. This is assuming the exact same bet sizings used in this hand.

The ability to get the big picture of things (i.e. being process-oriented instead of individual result-oriented) this game forces us to develop, already makes us in marge of this superficial society :)

Yes absolutely if you open with a strong hand like that there's no reason to slow down I mean you got to take your chances too if an ace popped up you got to consider well how many people are on the table how many cards are in the deck and what's the chances but usually you can spot those guys they'll just raise you no hel played that absolutely beautiful
@loweffortedward10 ай бұрын
A huge mistake to bet on turn when an opponent could have had a 5. This is where you use STOP & GO to see if they've hit the set.
@gregmoore664 жыл бұрын
On the flop the whale has bottom pair with an ace. Sandor makes a big bet. Would a good player call like the whale did?
@BlackRain79Poker4 жыл бұрын
I would say in most cases no, especially when you are not even closing the action (another player left to act behind).
@nicks2106843 жыл бұрын
I think a good player might 3 bet preflop, unless hero is really passive or nitty.
@nicks2106843 жыл бұрын
Although Nathan says elsewhere he’d just call preflop so clearly I still have a lot to learn lol.
@stevedoe3994 Жыл бұрын
I don't agree with double barreling the turn. Whenever the board pairs you have to be thinking about two pairs, trips or boats. Might have atleast prevented the loss oft the entire stack.
@phillipholmes52063 жыл бұрын
There is a flush draw on the flop, and the potential for QJ, so I would C-bet with some caution. If the flush comes in you are also in a bad position that requires caution. On the turn the board pairs up!! A further C-bet is in order but, if that bet is called, I would be extremely worried. QQ or JJ is possible. This continued agression, as the board deteriorates, is just hit and hope poker. Whatever villains range is, hero lost a heap of his stack as we seem to be forgetting to read the board and seeing how the villain could be beating us, instead only seeing how many hands we beat with GTO. Why, when talking GTO, do people always avoid stating the hands we could be losing to?
@chinggis_khagan3 жыл бұрын
You should not be worried about QQ or JJ because there are only 6 combos and if villain has 47% of hands, that's only 1% of his range. Even if he folds out some of that 47% facing a raise, it's still insignificant. The 5 does not really change anything because it's not a huge part of villain's range either. He is far more likely to have a J, a Q or a draw because he calls with more of them preflop and because there are far more available. That's why you shouldn't be scared. You can bet big every street like hero did and make a profit.

@showstopper5404 жыл бұрын
Why not? Non aggressive fish are not going to bluff the river when checked to, nor are they going to bet a hand like Jx or an underpiar...so we go for max value and either get paid or get the fold. Sometimes villan shows up like this and we are beat. The other large portions of the time we just win. Easy peasy
