Description
Twelve factions, each with unique characteristics, populate this world of varying terrains. Here you will compete to erect buildings and merge them into cities. Each game allows you to create new combinations of factions, homelands, and abilities so that each game isn't the same as another.
You control one of these factions and will terraform the game map's terrain into your homelands where you can erect your buildings. Proximity to other factions may limit your expansion, but it also gains you significant advantages in the game. This tension adds to the appeal of the Terra Mystica series.
Upgrade your buildings to gain valuable resources such as tools, scholars, money, and power. Build schools to advance in different sciences and collect books, which you can use to make innovations. Build your palace to gain a powerful new ability or build workshops, guilds, and universities to complete your culture.

For some Gaia is still a better game than Age of Innovation. I have never played Gaia so I cannot have an opinion. But for me AOI is also in my top 5 list

Very good explanation, but at 28:00 theres a mistake : you can terraforming a next land only if you have completed the previous land to your mother land. You cannot terraform the third land terraforming partially the second land .

Hello! The first paragraph of page 12 on spending bonus spades states: "you can even terraform 3 hexes as long as you always terraform one of them to your native terrain"

Believe me : its not in that way and there have been more than one discussion in BGG forum about that. Probably english rules are not quite exhaustive about it. you have always to complete terraforming a land to your motherland before passing to the next one to avoid the possibility to vaporize lands against other players

ok , you could be right. I have not checked it further, because the rule seems straightforward. I will check the forums and add a corrective annotation in klingon. So you can only create one partially terraformed hex right on one action. right?

@@peakyboardgamer You always have to terraform one terrain at a time and you can move on to the next only if you have brought the previous one to your mother terrain. Also you can only use tools to get to your mother soil in the first terrain you choose. Example: You get three free shovels First terrain you use to bring them to the mother terrain with the third you go to another terrain and only move them one towards your mother terrain. You get two shovels for free You need three shovels for the first soil, you can pay for the third with tools to bring the soil to your mother soil. You have two shovels for free, With the first you bring the terrain to the mother terrain in the second hexagon it would take two shovels to bring it to the mother terrain, but you can only do a partial transformation of one step. Last thing, you can only build a building on the first piece of land you chose, even if you terraform multiple pieces of land

This is a difficult question as you can imagine. Age of Innovation is surely one of them. Without overthinking I will say: - Age of Innovation - Barrage - Starcraft - Madeira - Spacecorp 2025-2300 AD

Hi, great video! But i would like to clarify something: At 28:18, you mentioned that you can build a workshop in "any one of the hexes that is fully terraformed". However, in the rule book (page 11), it states under the special case, 'Using 2 or 3 spades', that you may only build one workshop on the first terrain(fully terraformed), instead of any one fully terraformed terrains.

First of all, that's a good question. I overall think that gaining spades is that you gain all features of the normal t&b action plus some bonus spades. So I believe (strongly) that you can use the bonus spades as you wish (fully terraforming at least 1 hex if possible) and still build on any applicable space and not just the ones you terraform. I can ask in bgg
