How to Play Beast Boy in Dungeons & Dragons

Today we're taking a look at Beast Boy in D&D 5e. Finally we have a build that can challenge Poison Ivy, and unsurprisingly it's another druid. If you love the flavor of a druid, but aren't so much into the spell casting, this is the build for you. Here we maximize the animal and shape shifting abilities, so you'll never have to fight a monster the same way twice.

honestly having to use polymorph before you turn into a creature you haven't seen yet makes a lot of flavor sense, it's like beast boy has to get used to how an animal he's never seen before works before he can turn into it casually.

Water Breating: Was given to team mates in a Teen Titans episode by Beast Boy transforming into a Great Blue (still green) whale and holding the team in his mouth while acting as a submarine. No one wanted to repeat the experience and so they made the Titan's space ship sea worthy.

So I realized two things while watching the background this video: 1. In the episode of the original series where he uncontrollably becomes that were-beast, the beginning fight he seems to transform into a fucking sasquatch. 2. That same were-beast looks like a prerequisite for Rath from Ben 10.

Awesome video! Got me thinking of the other Titans myself. I think Cyborg would be a Warforged Gunsmith Artificer (Maybe with some Barbarian levels for that Rage/Overclocking beatdown) and Starfire would be a (Predominantly Spring) Eladrin Warlock of the Seeker, given her curiosity about Earth and all of the levitation/flying spells that patron grants you.

Can always flavour certain spells as you quickly shifting into a form that does something similar to the spell. Like quickly shifting into a vampire squid for thorn whip.

Episodes 48 and 49 of the Fire Emblem stats: The Genie and Garfield Logan. First, the friend. The Genie is pretty obvious. He's good at both types of magic and flight since he can fly. He's bad at using lethal weapons since genies can't kill anything. His magic, both types of defense, and charm are great, but don't expect him to do anything worthwhile with his low strength. Next, the shapeshifter. Beast Boy has a pretty unorthodox build of being good at brawling, riding, and flight since he's a purely hand-to-hand guy who can turn into horses. He's bad at authority because he's a slacker. He's well-rounded in his stats besides HP and defense.

(i know this video is old but) I really want to play a beast boy type character but you literally have to be level 20 to fight like beast boy, he switches forms constantly in fights. The fact that druids get 2 wildshapes per rest for LITERALLY 19 LEVELS and then suddenly jump to unlimited at 20 is imo one of the stupidest most frustrating features in dnd

So, Starfire Next? I would just go straight Divine Soul for level 14 Flight and then supplement the build with Warlock or Monk levels (Hexblade or Celestial, Open Hand or Shadow for Monk). Rogue or Bard works too but ideally 17 levels of Divine Soul just to keep the sweet level 9 spells.

um you keep saying buff dex and strength for improvements to your beast forms...but you don't use your strength and dex in beast form you use the beast's only your mental stats carry over

You use your transformations physical stats only the mental ones carry over so maybe invest in Wis and Int or Cha.

If you want a built actually intended to be as good, functional and powerful as possible, then do it, but if you want Beast Boy, and you focus on Intelligence and Wisdom, then you won't have Beast Boy.

@@Biochemitra Someone with Int and Wis 10-11 (which is what I'd give Beast Boy if I statted him up with 'what feels right' as opposed to what I roll or the usual 15-14-13-12-10-8 series) is capable of strategizing if necessary. It's just his strategies will probably be far from optimized or the best decisions given the circumstances, which screams Beast Boy to me. Being able to do something doesn't mean you're good at it. I can play FPS games in multiplayer. I will get my brains blown out in an instant because other players playing those games in multiplayer are usually great at it, as opposed to my halfway decent skill. Same goes for him. He can use his brain, and he can perceive stuff, but he's usually not that bright and often tends to be irresponsible and a bit lacking in the 'serious' department. I'm not saying he deserves 3-5 in those stats. I'm just saying he's done nothing to hint at anything stronger than 11, which is the human average. Beast Boy is just a normal dude with a sense of humor and a good attitude who happens to have powers. He's not an idiot or a fool, but he's certainly not smarter and wiser than average.

I do enjoy M&M, however it can be difficult to convert your group to that or get a new group started. D&D is pretty easy for beginners and is also the most well known ttrpg, at least in america. So these can be fun characters to make, especially for D&D one-shots. Plus making a character in M&M is extremely difficult for newcomers to understand, I know from experience, so D&D is probably the best option, even if you can make a more true beast boy
