Great song, the 5150 album always makes me think of summer and good times, if I remember right I wore out the cassette playing it so much when it first came out, yeah good times, thx Marty 🤘

This is one of the song on the Live Without a Net tour they really seemed to have fun playing.🤘😎🎸

Yeah, there was so much positivity oozing from them, and this song & 5150 are fun, absolute ragers. The 5150 riff might be my all time favorite, but Ed’s playing in that first verse of Best of Both Worlds is really top notch, and the rhythm, chords, melody, volume potted down etc. is pretty complex playing. I’ve always said he makes it sound like it’s “rolling around” ( for lack of a better word). The phrasing, chord progressions, and syncopation of what he’s playing underneath Sammy’s vocals in the 1st & 2nd verse are really difficult, but sounds so f-ing cool. Marty does a great job working that one out,and explains it revisited a good amount of both VH eras recently, and are noticing little subtitles Id never noticed in the past. Cheers, to ya.🎸

Been playing this song for 20 yrs. Its interesting how meny people interpret it differently. Most tabs have it wrong like so meny Van Halen songs. I think your interpretation is spot on to my ears. Subscribed.

I don't know exactly why, but this song was always one of my favorites on this album. Probably just because it kicks ass and Sammy's vocal was in the zone.

Great class!! Getting to the NITTY GRITTY without the CHAFF!! Yonks ago i my mum found me the OU812 ´Piano Vocal Book in a charity shop for a QUID . I didn´t get the notation - But it had ALL the chord shapes for WHEN IT´S LOVE - etc. I learnt more from that book than the TAB version that i bought later.

Hey man! Thanks for watching. I'm playing the Ibanez JS model with the maple neck on this. I put a dimarzio Fred in the bridge and the Satriani hot rails in the neck. For you tube I run a Fractal AX8 .... it's their Friedman BE patch. I run ML labs Friedman IR's and run it into stereo into my pro tools through a Focusrite 2 channel interface. I just add reverb and delay in pro tools. And a touch of stereo chorus. I run my delay about 250ms left ans 500 ms right. 25% feedback and about 14% overall mix. Plate reverb about 15% mix.

Marty did you do anything to the neck of that guitar. It needs smoothing out I found. You did change the pups right?
@Ranch5150SkinWalker Жыл бұрын
I just changed the pickups to a Satriani Dimarzio Fred on the birdge and a Satriani Dimarzio "hot rail" single coil in the neck.

Do your own research everyone: gather “official” tabs, (they’re usually incorrect but a good starting point), watch as many live clips of the song (if possible) as you can, listen to the isolated tracks, develop your own ear and use guitar/fretboard logic. Then create your own tabs. Repeating someone else’s mistakes/misinterpretations, is on you.
