I've been playing big band jazz for almost a year, and yes, fills and solos are a struggle for me. The struggle is real. I'm not happy with a lot of what I'm doing, the band has no issues with me, but I know I can do better. I think the real issue is me only playing those two hours a week with the band. The drums are in our practice space. I might have to make time to get in there by myself and put some work in. There's never enough time when you're just running from song to song. We have a few hundred......I've been a rock/country drummer most of my life and never really played in a band since I was in the Navy in 1992 while deployed. I appreciate your videos!!!

Adam H Thanks, man. The shirts are a nice fit. Good quality stuff from Hanes or American Apparel depending on if you go with a classic or premium Tee. I always get a size up cuz I likes my tees a bit loose. That’s an XL I’m rockin in the vid.

Awesome lesson as usual, Rob. Quick question: what do you do when the rhythmic template is not entirely clear? I've been trying to solo to the Hancock tune Maiden Voyage, and it feels like the template could be 8th notes, 16th notes, or triplets. So it's hard for me to tell where "home base" is.

Sup Rob ! All good dude ? Hope so. I'd like to suggest a content for a video! How to learn a music. Sometimes we have a complex drum and I'd loved to understand how you learn those kinds of tracks. Do you separate in groups, listen and then try to replicate, read tabs, watch Rob Brown videos... Cheers from Brazil, dude !
