Even though my mother tongue is German, I am always enthusiastic about your videos. Your passion is probably the key that conveys all this in an understandable way. You are a great guitarist and teacher. Thank you for all the effort you put into bringing the blues, funk and rock to us. A warm greeting from Germany

I'm finding these lessons very fruitful. The pacing is good and the licks are staying with me and I'm breaking them out elswhere, even in other genres, best results I've gotten other than from face to face lessons.

Dave, this series on How to play Blues is up with the best content i’ve seen on the tube. Your teaching methods work that well for me I feel I’ve learned how I best learn new guitar riffs/techniques. I usually watch all the way through a few times over a week or so without my guitar. I then watch and pause / rewind while playing along with you. I’m on the third video atm and over the last couple of days I’ve got to the bit where I can remember it and can now try and make it sound good. Thanks for this and all the other great content. It’s really appreciated. Good Gravy!

Thanks for this, Dave. Those breaths and instruction about the 21st feet have been an eye opener. I've always noodled below fret 17 previously, but now I'm extending my play into those tinier gaps where the squealy notes live. You make me play better, and I'm very grateful.

Hi dave love the format of the lessons I know you wasn't happy with the video but the unedited video with phone going off the odd mistake and general chat makes it feel like I have gone round to a mate who is a better guitar player to learn a few licks and ideas and I think that's what makes it stick in my head unlike some of the polished I'm the teacher your the student video's I've watched I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks this keep doing what you're doing

That lesson was a total success ‼️🎸 Stop 🛑 worrying. Unfortunately it will take me months or years for me to learn 😬. Once again I was staring at your guitar. Is it made of mahogany? The wood grain is spectacular. Is the fretboard a really really dark rosewood or is it ebony which plays like heaven? The reason for my questions is I’m a Stratocaster freak and your Oswald has blown my mind. I think I’m going to save and get one mostly like yours. I want the Seymour Duncan Hendrix reproduction pickups and different control knobs. And the rest of it like yours. It just looks so darn kewl. And it sounds amazing. Thanks for your lessons. 👍☮️🌞🌟🎸🎵❤️ PS: just turn your phone or the ringer off. I do it all the time. 😎

Dave, sorry to be off-topic but I'm thinking about refretting one of my Strats and seem to remember you mentioning somewhere that at least one of your favourite guitars has had quite a few refrets in a few years, to the point where the neck is visibly thinner. Just wondering, have you considered refretting with stainless? I've got an acoustic refretted with stainless frets and they feel good, appear to be almost indestructible, and I can't detect any tone worsening effects. Are there disadvantages to refretting a Strat with stainless in your experience?
@sometimesdimneverthin3 жыл бұрын
Video and any errors are fine but could do with a tab even if Patreon only. What I don't get is why Dave says he made a mistake but goes on to say you can do almost whatever and that is fine. It's blues and each time can be a bit different. I doubt Robert Johnson was taught the finer points of Bach at the crossroads.
