In Hearts, you must follow suit and can only play a heart if you do not have a matching suit. Is that the same rule in this game or is it possible to play a trump card as needed to claim a desired trick?

Your question is answered at 1:50 in the video, the answer being that you're allowed to play a trump card even if you can follow the suit led by your opponent.

One question: After the deck runs out, the last card color will be the trump, or the players only follow suit?

The trump suit remains fixed during the course of an entire hand. It's determined by the suit of the first card flipped up on the top of the deck. In this video, for example, the first card flipped up was a diamond, so diamonds were the trump suit for the hand even as more cards were flipped up and after the deck ran out. Some people use a trump marker to keep track of the trump suit for games in which the trump changes every hand. An example of one would be a cube with all four suits marked plus two blank sides, the blank sides indicating no trump.

What if somebody plays an ace of spades and I only have a 5 of hearts but the trump suit is Diamonds? How is it scored?

They win the trick since you were unable to trump the ace. An ace in any non-trump suit when led to a trick or of the same suit as the suit led can only be beaten by a trump card. An ace of trumps in this game is unbeatable.

No, because the person who played the 6 didn't have diamonds left to beat the ace. The only thing that can beat an ace in a non-trump suit is a trump card, and diamonds were the trump suit of the hand.

This is a great game, however. there's nothing in place to prevent someone from cheating in this game. Because each player must follow the lead suit, but, someone could lie about not having a card in the lead suit and play another card in a different suit than the lead one just to avoid picking up a low ranking card.
