I don’t comment a lot on utube, but I must say, Marty you are an awesome teacher with the right attitude. I appreciate your videos very much. I’m a 58 year old guitar player and I pick up stuff from you a lot, thanks again! Never stop learning, and never stop trying guys, you will get better if you don’t give up..

Glen, exactly what I wanted to say, but me english is to poor. I fully agree. By the way, I am 58 years old and just removed 30 years of dust from my old guitar and startet trying again. Thanks to Marty. Really appreciate.

I only read the first part of this comment and I had to like it. Marty is one of the best. I have a select few that I view and learn from on a daily basis. There are some great teachers on KZbin. Despite what the adverts in between might try to tell you 🤣

I spent 15 minutes this morning looking through tabs - everyone suggesting alternate tunings - and all not providing me a springboard to learn this. You popped up as the first hit doing a video search and 10 minutes later I've got this down. Thank you. I almost walked away. You instruction is clear, correct and equally important - efficient. Very few wasted cycles - just clear, quick, to the point steps.

This is my very favorite song ever, but I have been too intimidated to try to learn it. I'm so glad you broke this down. I appreciate how you make this easier to learn and practice. Thanks, Marty, for giving me the chance to learn to play this song!

Marty I remember back when I would watch your vids and you had a fedora and a silly little stache. I always enjoyed your teaching style. But once I was off and rolling with some technique and a few songs I kinda just stopped watchimg tutorial vids on KZbin. I'm sorry but I completely forgot about your vids. I happened to see this one and did not recognize you. But, by watching this vid it brought a flood of memories of me and my brother staying up all night learning from your videos and jamming out. So I just want to say thank you for being one of my earlier teachers and I'm glad to see you are still at it. So others can learn to play guitar like I did. Guitar changed my life. And you were a big part of that. What most beginners don't understand is that all you need to get around the learning curve and over the so called learning wall, is a little bit of technique and a little bit of confidence. So thanks again for passing that to me and my brother, and continuing to pass that to others. Cheers Marty, you rock.

I'm a complete beginner, so it will take me a good while til I get to pieces like that, but regardless I already watch them as I really like to listen to explanation, see how you do it and each time I still learn something or get some useful tip
@74dartman136 жыл бұрын
HappyKartvlogs that's a great idea. Did it myself. I used to rent videos way back when, and a lot were over my head. I always managed to learn at least one little thing. Maybe even a better way to hold the pick or mute the strings. The knowledge all adds up! Keep strummin!👍😎🎸🎶
@HappyKartvlogs6 жыл бұрын
74dart man exactly... And it is just nice to listen .... Get some tunes into my thick head. Lol I explain in my last video actually how I walked off with a friends guitar after their gig....😁 So I have only ever tried to play for last few days... Which means I still don't even know more than few chords and can't really do anything else than strum a bit...yet🤣😂
@74dartman136 жыл бұрын
HappyKartvlogs just keep playing and don't give up! You'll be happy you stuck with it! Just keep strumming those few chords and then it'll get easier and easier to change from one to the other. Don't know if you've tried power chords yet. They're cool and easy...2 strings! A lot of songs were made by using 2 string power chords! Not many guys talk about em on KZbin. I used to play the hell out of power chords. Crank up some distortion and I was a rock star! Lol. They kept me playing and eventually lead into playing bar chords. Try index finger on 3rd fret fat E and ring finger on 5th fret A string...a G power chord! You can go up and down the neck. Switch over to same pattern on A and D strings for some more! Sounds badass with distortion! Hope that helps! Good luck!👍😎🎸🎶

This is a fantastic lesson, and the drop D makes a huge difference. Worth noting that there is a great KZbin video of Winwood playing the song in an acoustic solo, uncannily similar to your lesson, with one exception: Winwood has dropped ALL his strings down a full step, with the low E Strong down 2 steps, so the song actually sounds in the key of C, making it much more singable, while retaining all the wonderful fill opportunities etc with D chord shapes. Thanks again!
