Now check out the double harmonic minor. I use harmonic minor but will get a little more tension by sharping the 4 in the harmonic minor occasionally. Creates some cool chromaticism and if you go R, 6, #4 it sounds gross

Shit like this is what people need to see, especially if they play at all at any level. Like myself, I'm a drummer first but I love messing around with guitar riffing, but I can't read music and don't know any scales on the guitar (no actual training, more of a picked it up and started playing type thing). @@BrendonKPadjasek tbh i had some ideas on how to play deathcore, since i'm those kind of music producers who play a little of each instrument, and i love extreme metal and deathcore. I knew some of the techniques u shared by mere practicing some suicide silence songs (or fragments to be more precise), and the techs i didn't know trully felt like it solidified all that i had learned on my own. Literally all I learned was compressed in this vid, and more, which made it perfect for me! I checked some of ur other vids and they all seem to be really really helpful, since i use ableton all the time and i have a couple of synths, so i might go in a rabbit hole with ur channel. Tecniques are how you do things (in this case tremolos, tapping, both types of harmonics, scrapes) and musicality is what you do which is bigger portion of this video. Technique-wise i would add string skipping and mixxing dowsntrokes with alt picks.

@@BrendonKPadjasek Not even. Using note names or intervals are incredibly beneficial to understanding music, particularly in how notes relate to one another. You, on the other hand, are thinking in terms of fret numbers... that's actually hilarious!

@@monsterram6617 haha when playing I definitely think of it in musical terms but this video is meant for people of all musical knowledge levels so that made the most sense to me as people like us who understand it, understand which scale and mode a phrase is coming from

@@BrendonKPadjasek Let's not kid ourselves here and pretend that most metal guitarists can instant recall every note on the fretboard or demonstrate a fluent understanding of interval relationships. The reality is that very few can and it's because they never learn. You may be playing to that common denominator, but that bar is quite low. You can do your audience a solid and teach them the proper terminology at the same time. It's not going to hurt anyone to actually know their instrument. 👌

You should really mute your room mic when your playing and just use straight DI. it's giving a weird delayed feedback sound off

Its not a room mic, its actually a function in the guitar amp to split the signal from mono to stereo to listen as if you're double tracking. I enjoy using it when playing guitar as it feels closer to being in a room with an amp
