Ah yes. I remember fondly many nights on tour when Mendel would watch my fingers EXTREMELY closely and text me every time I messed up even the slightest thing. I'd be checking my phone on stage, and see messages like "WHAT WAS THAT?!?" It wasn't until the end of the tour, we recorded Mendel's guitar direct for a cool video project, and we listened to him ABSOLUTELY BUTCHER a solo. What a guy ♥️

Deathcore after about 2012-13 really changed for the better, especially around 2014-15. The songs became more coherent and breakdowns became tasteful. Production really took off as well.

Yes, honestly metal can reach a point where it does just become noise. There's just way to much going on sometimes. I will listen to Pantera over slayer. 200bpm is not sustainable for a whole song for me.

@@dasenase tbh deathcore is one of those rare genres that has always been good, the proto deathcore from the 90's is fire, the early 2000's stuff like the cleansing is straight up iconic, and the new bands are evolving the sound and experimenting in super impressive ways all around, literally every era has been peak deathcore 🤘🏻

Mid-output pickups on short scale guitars are one of the best pairings for heavy stuff in mid-low tunings. A little bit less precise sounding, but it makes power chords growl and palm mutes punch like nothing else. I use a Les Paul tuned to B with stock Gibson pickups for the vast majority of my death metal recording

I have such a huge smile on my face..... Not only cause I know the struggle from both worlds, My uncle being a die-hard through and through Death Metal genius with guitar skills that are seemingly unmatched as well as my cousin who made his way in Deathcore but secretly is the most talented extended range player I know, I myself well... I don't know what I play personally... I was brought up by both camps some days it's down picking as fast as my gear will allow, Other days I'm hybrid picking, Tapping..... Tossing in country riffs.... Improving to R&B playing classical all self-taught or by ear~ nonetheless I would love to be in this room taking a lesson from both y'all

I still remember hearing them for the first time in Freddy vs Jason (along with early brutal Howard Jones era KSE) and becoming an instant fan haha. Rob Arnold is one hell of a player but to much of my suprise, finding out Mark Hunter also played guitars on some tracks simply blew my mind.

I didn't realise people struggle when playing with left handed guitarists cos the first dude I jammed with as a kid was left handed and it was always just like when I would play in front of a mirror examining my technique (also trying to figure out what looked cool cos I was a teenager)
