The groove isn’t genre specific. This groove can be played in Funk as you mention but it can also be used for different genres such as Disco, Pop, Latin, etc. Thanks!

Is disco making a comeback!?!? Another channel that I watch, just did a tutorial. 🕺 PS: I 💜 that you moved your hand up top for the "toe" position. Seems a lot of guys at that point, just skip it, and play "open handed/American." ...which can have it's benefits sometimes. But, I usually split the difference, too!

Haha! Not sure if it is but wanted to share anyway 😂…..I try to play without removing some parts, however, sometimes you need to depending on time signature, phrasing, or just the overall tempo of the song. So sometimes it’s necessary.
