Just got the Borg expansion and have them in play. I'm trying to invade one of their structures, a tower and 3 nodes. Reading the manual I understand this as they already have 3 shield modifiers, one for every node on the structure? In your vid you add the shield modifier as when fighting a cube.

I ended up buying Star trek ascendancy and all expansions off the back of this the previous video. Love the game. The only thing i would change would be moving away from dice based combat. Waiting on Fractal Beyond the Void which uses an interesting combat method.

Thanks! Very useful to have it all in one video. Personally I am still waiting for the Tholians, but so far the ST Ascendency and expansions bacame a great, more dynamic and lighter replacement for space 4X games such as the Eclipse or the Twilight Empire in a local gaming club. Still we are playing with some home rules: 1. production at the same time, at the beginning of the round (player sequence still decides in disputed cases such as colonisation etc). This way everyone has a chance to recover from a defeat. 2. when it is your turn you can exhaust 1-4 command tokens and another player plays his 1-4 commands etc until all players are done. This way downtime - the biggest issue in the game - is never a problem and you have more strategies available to exploit. Using command tokens for something which is not an action (e.g. Dominion rerolls) doesn't count as a part of the 4 command limit. Same with the tokens used to attack the Borg. Launching an invasion takes more effort and planning, but 4 commands is enough for something really complex plus you can always have something in reserve to prepare another strike in the same round. 3. every player can exploit phenomenons during their turn - this way you are risking more and have to exaust more command tokens, but can help less lucky players. We had a situation when a Breen player couldn't expand, but discovered many phenomeons and this helped him to remain relevant in the game. So far no problems with this rule. We haven't played with the Vulcans yet, so I am not sure if they will force some changes in our rules, but so far it works pretty well. Take care!

This game needs little cards with Star Trek quotes and the Klingons need Klingon Insults so when you attack or just want to annoy your fellow players you can insult them in Klingon. You'll play Federation starships saying 'Engage< 'Make it so number one, make it so" and then the first officer Spock says 'Illogical". 'Scotty I need more power!. I'm doing the best I can captain. Scotty you have one minute'. Aye Captain".

When not playing with the dominion we leave the normal bajor disc in play but whoever discovers bajor they have the option of using the normal bajor disc or can decide to swap it out for worm hole disc instead of doing the phenomenon version

How do the borg and gamma quadrant interact?

I haven't tried playing with both, so I can't say for sure, but I wouldn't recommend combining them. They weren't really designed to be played together so it'll be a little awkward. However there's nothing that stops you from just following the set up instructions of both and playing with each set of rules how you normally would.

They would interact through Exploration cards, as the System Discs wouldn't work from one to the other.

Theoretically the same actor played both a Dominion and an Andorian so if you played both of these factions he might have to fight himself.

Rule for Borg movement in the case of ties is incorrect. You stated if still tied on sectors the lowest turn order player chooses the target system. Rule is that the lowest turn order player is *chosen* as the target.

Yeah, I get that, if only just to have a tiny DS9. It doesn't ever go anywhere though, so it would basically stay locked to Bajor anyway.

@@scottduncan5525 Yeah, I'd love it if they had a bit more variety in ship designs, especially for the Klingons. The Vor'cha is fine, but I'd much prefer Birds of Prey or Negh'Var class ships.

i like that, like say a romulan pack could be from the original series or enterprise version, this would be like TNG/DS9, kind of wish the piece were bigger but that just my thing, maybe if everything as scaled up to the size of a finger, kind of like attack wing or fleet captains

Kardassians are like fascist? They can be seen more like communists just as well - communists of a realistic, totalitarian kind, unlike Federation. Perhaps more correctly is to call them a mishmash of various totalitarian ideologies mixed into one. At least that's how they are portrayed in DS9, where we learn - by far - the most about them.
