How to Play Good Hearted Women - Waylon Jennings (cover) - Easy 4 Chord Tune - This is another classic tune that stands the test of time by the ever great Waylon Jennings, co-written with Willie Nelson. The tune was loosely written about Tina Turner from a quote that Jennings saw in a newspaper ad about Tina being a "Good Hearted Woman Loving a 2 Timing Man" referring to Ike. He mentioned his idea to Willie during a card game and while they played they wrote the lyrics while Nelson's then wife wrote them down. I thought that was a neat story to share. Hi guys looking for a bit of help. I've been learning for around a year. I learn many sings like this. The issue I'm having is my upstrum. I get a caught in the strings. I play with a very thin forgiving pick. It's really getting me down because I'm making progress everywhere else. Any help thoughts would be greatly appreciated

@teamnoble9715, I know it's been a year since you requested a bit of advice with your upstrums on your guitar playing, and my suggestion for you is to ditch the current pick, and get yourself a stiff thumb pick. You are having the same issue I was having, where your fingers get caught up in the strings during your up strums. The Thumb pick eliminates that, because it sticks out far enough from the side of your thumb that you can just curl, and tuck your fingers down into the palm of your picking hand. Give the thumb pick a try. I think you'll have much better sound as well with a stiff thumb pick vs a thin finger held pick. There is no shame in using thumb picks to better yourself at playing.
