Another great lesson. Can i ask you about the bodhran sitting behind your strat. What's an Irish drum doing awaaay over there :)
@GuitarAtWork6 жыл бұрын
Ha! Thank you Tom - and good eye....that is indeed a bodhran. I was completely addicted to it a few years ago but it was messing up my wrist so I had to give it up. Hope all is well over there! Shane

Why does it matter if I do up or down it sounds same... Can I do alternatively down and up?
@GuitarAtWork5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jisan - typically if your foot is tapping down it's a down stroke - if your foot is up it's an upstroke. Cheers! Shane
@jisanbaidya77435 жыл бұрын
@@GuitarAtWork one more thing what's the difference between the chords version and playing the individual notes?
@GuitarAtWork5 жыл бұрын
JISAN BAIDYA it can sound much fancier with the individual notes. Then do the strumming after the first chorus. Cheers
@markhall79515 жыл бұрын
Helps just to play it through at pace for us guitarists. I don't need the explanation. Just play it through and call out the cords for a single version.
@stevewilson31392 жыл бұрын
Your teaching this picking pattern wrong,dont bolt the right hand down,rest your right hand pinky on the high E string. Use the 2nd finger only n the G formation and ring finger on the B string,this helps the muting of the D string. Works a lot easier 4 me.
@GuitarAtWork2 жыл бұрын
That is TERRIBLE advice - try to improve your technique. It’ll serve you well. Cheers, Shane
@garyrochussen34305 ай бұрын
😂 agreed!
@flewis6 жыл бұрын
I was able to learn the pattern very quickly but just can’t tell where to get “scrubby” and need assistance. Watching you play it quickly for the few seconds you do and watching billy joe do it live is hard to follow and everything I do doesn’t sound right... any advice?
@GuitarAtWork6 жыл бұрын
Hi Flewis - just try to 'widen' up your right hand when trying to get scrubby - just the right amount to fatten things up a bit. Cheers, Shane
@Onlythebesttracks6 жыл бұрын
If you're only picking is there any benefit to holding that high E? Seems like its never touched. Feel like its holding me back, as i can change chords quicker if i dont worry about the pinky. Or is this counter productive in the long run? Surely those 3 notes are a chord in their own right without worrying about holding an extra fret for no reason. My pinky doesnt jump off like urs does when you switch to the D chord. It stumbles around like a drunk toddler. Thanks for the tutorial, its helped alot.
@Onlythebesttracks6 жыл бұрын
Still tripping over myself but sticking with the pinky. My thinking is ill end up needing that chord in its entirety some day.
@GuitarAtWork6 жыл бұрын
Hi Justin - sorry for a slow reply - it's a good idea to keep that pinky on even though you don't play that note in the riff. Cheers! Shane

Hi Shane, absolute beginner here love the way you keep things simple for us newbies in your explanations, your doing a great job. Now i need to get some practice in. Downloaded the tab sheet for this and Horse with no name. Would you reccomend i stick to getting one right before moving on to another? Looking forward to learning from you .
@GuitarAtWork6 жыл бұрын
Hi Ste Claire - thanks for your message - glad to have you with us. I think it's OK to have a couple of songs on the go and move from one to the other during practice - you might find it takes longer to master one but the longer term benefits are better. Cheers! Shane

Shane, Am pleased to be your newest subscriber. Thanks for posting the video and making the detailed song sheet available for download on www.shanesimpson.com. I especially appreciate that the song sheet overlays the lyrics on top of the chord changes. Working on getting the picking down.
