I know in previous versions of DnD they had bladed whips. Essentially whips with metal barbs woven in. Think they did 1d6 slashing. They also had a whip master class that could actually use a whip as a ranged touch attack or use the whip to disarm enemies from a distance.

"Riposter" is a French verb meaning "to retaliate," and is pronounced "ri-POSS-tay." Not saying this should’ve been done instead, but I would like to mention that monks can use the unarmed strike die in place of their monk weapon’s damage, so a whip could deal potentially more than 1d4. Not sure how that could be used to make a good build, but it was information I found out recently, so I thought it was important. Maybe it could make throwing weapons good.

9s' hacks would be hella difficult to mimic in DnD. like Dominate Monster spell (8th Level) difficult while still being a hella competent fighter with lots of HP. *Maybe* Bladesinger Warforged?

@@thatnerdcalledzanni3957 no where does it say a bard HAS to do any of that. Sword bards for example CAN use swords as casting focuses, and every caster can use a components pouch. Also considering that until level 15 you're gonna need some other means of using the "virus", your best bets are gonna be charm spells, which if I remember correctly give you advantage on persuasion, so it'd help to have charisma for that.

Tulok, who do you main in the Soulcalibur series? I've been playing for 20 years and main Mitsurugi, but I switched to Seong Mi-Na in SC6.

One legitimate advantage to using a whip over a glaive or greatsword, on Ivy- having one hand free means you can freely equip a shield for +2 AC, or even *+5* AC if it's magical (and it isn't like Ivy casts spells and also attacks in the same round so lacking War Master isn't exactly a deal breaker or anything like that, just stow the sword for that turn and re-equip it at the start of the next one if you must.) Also, Great Weapon Master imposes a sharp to-hit penalty for all the extra damage you'd be getting out of it if you picked it up- for the dodgier enemies, or enemies that can't be Paralyzed/have strong Wisdom Saves, you can't rely on Hold Person to mitigate that.

I was contemplating a psyonic reborn character for a loosely fierce deity inspired character.(not a request as I'm half certain you've already done that character) I feel like the physical manifestation of the collective hopes and fears of an intire city is probably reborn. Which I also think would have been a better fit race wise for the avatar but let's agree to disagree.
