I like ken having a capped wisdom save, because in the main timeline he is litterally the only person to study Assassins Fist and never fall prey to the Satsui no Hado.

Shoryuken literally translates to rising dragon fist (and ken is fist), so Way of the Ascendant Dragon is just perfect. I'm half convinced Way of the Ascendant Dragon was actually made as a reference to Ken

Truestrike does have exactly one use. Landing big slot spell attacks. It's a poorman's Seeking metamagic. Attacking twice is better than truestrike attack, but whiffing a bestow curse then landing a second one *IS* worse than truestrike bestow curse. Even worse for something like PlaneShift where you only get 1, no second attempt. Mind you, landing the bestow curse turn 1 is better than both truestrike and whiffing your first attempt, but sometimes you can't guarantee that their AC is too high.

@@dragonboyjgh Another time I found it useful is with Rogues. Pre Tasha, it was a great way to guarantee sneak attack damage in large area scuffles if you didn't have your team and weren't a swashbuckler.

One thing you keep forgetting, when you start as a monk, you get proficiency with either an instrument or Artisan's tools. This means all monks, like Ken, have the power of god

@@dex1157 Base humans? Yeah, they aren't nearly as bad as everyone says, they just aren't the best for optimizing. Variant Humans tho, they're certainly quite powerful, since feats are stronk for sure. People still don't seem to want humans in their fantasy RP, even though there's literally nothing that keeps them from doing what they want just because they aren't a short miner human or a tall long-eared human or a scaly human or smth. Your character's race isn't the most important thing.

Y'know, given that Ken is traditionally more associated with the Shoryuken - Literally the Rising Dragon Fist - over the Hadouken (more Ryu's thing), there was literally no more fitting subclass he could get.

Honestly, can't wait for more SF builds so I can have a big tournament arc. Here's hoping for Q/G or Juri someday. Also, side note, Japan *kinda* exists in D&D from an older campaign setting. There are actually two of them, Wa and Kozakura, that are in Kara-Tur, the Forgotten Realms' Asia analogue. It doesn't show up often, which is sad, because I think it's a really cool setting, personally.

It’s not *that* weird that Monks don’t have Wisdom saving throws. Generally, there’s a divide down the middle of saving throws. Dex, Con, and Wis are “the big three” that are used most commonly for saving throws in D&D. You’ll notice no classes offer saving throws in more than one of these big three. So when they were coming up with the saving throws for Monks, they weren’t able to choose Dex and Wis because it would make Monks drastically overpowered in terms of saving throws to every other class. After they chose whether Dex or Wis made more sense for the Monk’s saves, choosing Strength from the small three saves was the obvious other choice over Int or Cha because the class has nothing to do with either of those mental stats.

Warlocks at 1st level only have the 1 spell slot don't get a second till level 2. So the weakness of limited resources is a bit more noticeable. You'll only get at most two uses of Hunter's Mark a day. Not the worst thing in the world since 2nd level Rangers are just as limited anyway. DEFINITELY didn't expect the Hexblade dip though. It's...kinda fitting for Violent Ken. Hexblade is effectively the patron for anything Shadowfell and I can imagine the Satsui no Hadou possibly originating from it so kudos there.

I feel like good in character feats for ken at 14th level could be Mobile, Prodigy, or Linguist. Mobile because ken tends to be quite agile, prodigy because of his ability to pick up and learn martial arts, and linguist because he most likely learned Japanese while training.

While Fey-touched is a possibility, as you said teleporting isn’t really something Ken does. While Hunter’s Mark is really good we could grab the Skill Expert feat since Ken happens to be very good at Ken things or Mage Slayer for a bit of a boost for fighting any possible psychic ecoterrorists you may encounter.

You know, I could try to explain how to pronounce Tatsumaki Senpuukyaku, but honestly I think it'd be overall better if you just did what the FGC does and call it a Tatsu. Episode 310 of the Fire Emblem stats: Ken Masters. Ken's pretty easy to figure out on the weapons front. He's good at brawling and reason (fire magic) but is bad at heavy armor and every other weapon. He has good dexterity and offense in both areas but is pretty fragile in the defenses.
