Lauren did an excellent teaching job here! If you can not just play but SING Landslide flawlessly, it does signal to me a guitar player who is evolving beyond intermediate level into early advanced level. With Travis picking, anyway! Then you're ready for Lindsey Buckingham's even trickier Travis picking song, "Never Going Back."

Most of us like this song. I always avoided the Travis picking style because in my naivety I thought it was a bit too oompah oompah and 'dad' music style. Now I have to develop muscle memory and apply it to everything from rag time to blues and folk. Even rock and roll. Thanks for providing a simple and quite beautiful introduction to it.

Thanks for the Vid! I play this song and love it! Please note this is in the key of Eb, so it's not a "C maj" chord but a Eb maj chord. You're not hearing a C, Am, G, etc. so best to think of it in Eb as it is played and heard. This is important when playing at a jam session and people want to join with instruments that don't use capos.

Not nearly as difficult as I would have thought. I REALLY LOVE finger picking. It's actually seems more forgiving than playing with a pick. I've only made it through the verse so far. My biggest hang up is switching to that weird chord. It's screwing up my timing. But, I will work that the mechanics of that out. Thank you for this great lesson.

I recommend learning to pick the pattern without looking asap. If I look at it while picking, I get cross-eyed and lose my place. If I watch tv (or whatever), I can play it over and over with almost no problems. And, to me, this is easier to play without looking than playing with a pick. Now, I have to play it with the metronome and reel the timing in a little so its not just 7 notes being playing in order.
