saw a guy on YT teach the actual nylon string "intro" but on a steel string, very accurate so if anyone is interested, search and you will find it. Loved the 12 string tutorial brother, you nailed it, heard a version that goes to an Asus for one beat after the Em then to the D, wondered if Ronnie actually did that, it sounded like it fit, ?

Great lesson. Two comments, most guitarists who want to play this don't have a 12-string so demoing this on a 6 string would be a good idea. Also, why tune it slightly sharp? To play along with the recording? Seems silly. I play for myself, for my friends and (if I'm lucky) for a bit of an audience. I'm never going to sharpen the tuning for this. And in order to play along with THIS tutorial, it sounds pretty good, certainly close enough, "as is." Good luck with your teaching.

Am I missing something. E--A-D-G-B-E IS NORMAL TUNING, BUT THEN YOU SAY SONG IS IN DMAJOR. YOU LOST ME.
@dukepeterson4 жыл бұрын
D major is the key of the song, which is unrelated to the tuning, in this case is standard

If you have to teach somebody how to tune a guitar you have no business teaching him how to play Maggie may
@ultracon38065 жыл бұрын
C'mon man, that's a rather shallow assertion. How is picking each string teaching people how to tune their guitar? He's not teaching anyone how to tune a guitar, he's giving those learning to play the song the chance to make sure they're in tune. Your guitar never goes out of tune between songs?
@michaelmorris70835 жыл бұрын
@@ultracon3806 The only point I was trying to make is that the opening to Maggie Mae is a complex combination of chords.
@michaelmorris70835 жыл бұрын
The fact that hes using a 12 string Guitar only adds to the complexity of the intro. I'm not knocking any body for trying it but it's not the easiest thing in the world for a beginner to know.
@roberthatch75855 жыл бұрын
@@michaelmorris7083He's saying the recording is slightly sharp so if you want to play with the recording tune to his pitch. It is not uncommon for recordings to be slightly out of tune. You might want to go back to the kiddy pool for awhile.

You might wanna keep your opinions to yourself.. If you're so good and knowledgeable why aren't you Recording. Yeah that's what I thought!
