I finally finished learning this after at least a whole month of playing this on and off, learning new phrases after I'm comfortable with the ones before. And as a beginner (I've only been playing for 6 months) and a lover of SRV, I can only say I have learned so much from his techniques, his rhythm changes, the muting, two string playing etc. I'm so thankful for this video Justin, I couldn't do this without you! I promise to pay you back when I start earning my own. Leaving this right here so I'll never forget how I felt right after finishing it around nearly 7 am on 7 December. Thank you!

Same here! I was never really into blues music until i heard this version of Mary Had A Little Lamb by SRV. After that it's been an endless journey with blues and jazz music. That's what i love about music and playing guitar, you learn the music of the players you love and that leads you to checking out the players that they love, like Buddy Guy who originally wrote this song.

@Grace&Danger I gave the vid a thumbs up, he did a great job.. I stand behind my comment though. I wouldve prefered him to have done the lesson in the key SRV played it in, then it would have been perfect, imo. Thats all I was saying. If you are learning this, you would have to switch guitars or tune down to play along with the track.

Hey man gotta say took me 5 days of solid hour sessions to feel comfortable with the song. Ive been on a Santana and SRV binge. So thank you! I took guitar lessons for seven years during grade school. So It takes a lot for me to bust out sheet music and learn a new song. You make it easier, faster and more entertaining to learn. And I'd add it sounds a lot like the recording he did. If not exact. An experience I only got with my mentors.

Justin - I have been playing for 40 years and gig regularly. Your lessons are great for working guitarists who don’t have a lot of time to work out songs on their own. i really appreciate how you play the lesson at speed first, then play it slow before breaking it down - this saves me tons of time! Awesome lesson! I had just nailed this solo in 2 hrs just by watching and learning your note for note fingering and tempo. This sort of lesson would have been pay-for-full view in other channels. Thank you for teaching us all!! (Side note: I don't really believe SRV had stronger fingers. His strings were down tuned to Eb, so they're easier to bend).
@tomislavmestrovic89389 жыл бұрын
He didn't have strong fingers - he had MONSTER'S fingers..... his tehnician said that his strings were so tight and action so high that he (tehnician) couldn't play anything except some chords on his guitar during sound check....

Waohzah! that was fun, getting the SRV vibe now Justin, And found more use for my TS9! Had to see his settings though so a bit of searching sites for that one; Even half tuned down for this little exercise with the Pacifica it sounds pretty crazy. Using the neck pick for most part then switching for the solos is tricky to time right. (not sure if it should be the other way around) - Great stuff fella thank you.
