I do just think Adam Lallana for a player who would sum this video up at the elite level of the game today. Because Mr Lallana's work rate in defending for Liverpool FC is first rate for me, because Mr Lallana can be defending for Liverpool FC in midfield and scoring or setting up a goal for Liverpool FC, this is all within six to eight seconds later. When your team is with the ball, You have to create enough space between you and your other midfielder, but in such a way that you can provide a passing option for him. Don't stay too close to him because you will disrupt his play and cause a cluster which will potentially force your opponents to press him and intercept his passes or dribbles. He needs to have space to see you and communicate effectively with you. When defending together, you have to be aware of your teammates positions so that you can also position yourself and press accordingly. Make sure that you are marking the opposition team relative to your position in Midfield, that means, if you are playing LCM, you are marking opposition players who happen to drift into that area for most of the time. That's not to say that you can't mark in other areas of the pitch, like i said earlier, you have to be aware of the positions of your teammates, that means; your teammate may be out of position at some point in the game and if you are aware of your team's defensive shape, you can cover up for him and another player can also cover up yours. I hope this was helpful.

Koi the Fish Hello i used to be a defender so i think i can help a bit. tip 1: Imagine that the Attacker is in front of you with the ball, its inportant to be aware of the distance between you, him and his team mates (for exemple if he has a team mate to his right try to move a bit to your left so it is harder for him to pass the ball tip 2: look at the direction of his body when he is going to pass the ball, normaly if for exemple is going to pass with his right leg, look at where is left foot is aiming, thats where he is probably going to pass tip 3: Dont wait for him to make the first move, its important to be patient and wait for the right time Yes, but it is better if you presur him fast and dond give him much time to think or look at the game around him tip 4: you play on a team, if you make a mistake fix it as soon as possible . if a team mate makes a mistake you have to cover for him, do his job until you can bowth return to your normal possitions tip 5: train your body, defenders need to be strong and fast tip 6: train short and long distance pass, one touch short pass his very helpfull skill and long distance pass can creat a opurtonity for your team to score tip 7: Corners are very important, dont worry abaot the ball hiting your face it doesnt hurt, always keep your eyes open and on the ball, perfect your jumping time ( many make a mistake of jumping too erley and miss the ball) I hope it helps :)

Actually a lot of this video is wrong. Specifically the part where the winger looses the ball and you have to go and get it. It mainly depends on what the formation is and what the tactis are. Some midfielders only wait in the attacking half waiting for the ball to start an attack. However good video.

Fallen just ask him if you can try to play mid fielder one practice it depends if your going to play center mid make sure your passing and touch are good especially touch because you will be in a lot of tighter situations than other positions make sure you stay central and don't move to far to the sides or too far up or back also make sure you are transitioning quick passes will help a lot as well I hope this helped

You tell him you will play anywhere for the team and if he needs you to play at the back and if there's every an opportunity to play in midfield, that's where you would prefer to play. and you are confident you can be one of the best midfielders on the team. Then you just have to back up your words when he gives you teh chances.
