It would be interesting to hear what smooth jazz on a crumhorn sounds like.

Wynton Marsalis when he realises Sitars (and other Asian instruments) weren't originally used in jazz, but plays with them anyways: I'm going to pretend I didn't see that

In all seriousness, though, Rufus Harley definitively proved that the bagpipes are AMAZING for playing jazz-funk.

My favorite trio is accordion, banjo, and bagpipes. You have proven bagpipes are even extremely jazzy on there own.

0:27 is just the kind of BS excuse kids always dream up. Advantage of the bagpipe is that you can hold a note infinitely long. Take that Kenny G!

@@DavePollack a quick google lead me to a forum and someone saying: I've had several pipers tell me not to play vibrato on notes because "you don't do that on Highland Pipes"... which I thought was pretty funny. I would guess it might be traditional on Uilleann pipes, though. It supposedly the "traditional" way to play vibrato on "Irish" flutes, whistle, etc.

Yes, you can get a bit of vibrato on bagpipes by covering some lower holes.
