I mean some how they managed to save the entire human population before any of them made an actual friend. In the anime at least I’m pretty sure Carmilla Lenora and Saint Germaine are the only positive charismas there are. It’s hard to be good at everything but when nobody can talk it makes since how the lowest ranked vampire is all of a sudden running the show.

Matthew Courtney This is true. I guess talking to people moves down the list when you can just eviscerate most people and drink their blood, or use your magic/lineage to make up for your deficits. Though, I’d argue that Dracula himself SHOULD have a pretty high charisma score. He’s been around long enough, and is the big bad antagonist enough (who are usually good at almost everything), that he really should know how to use his force of presence. Even if he mostly only uses the intimidation side of charisma.... Or lapsed into a suicidal depression. :/

BJGvideos I’d argue that he was trying to feel her out and not actually intimidate her, when they first met. In a “this is interesting, I don’t get many visitors, and I’m amused at this odd-interesting human” type of way. That or he just rolled so low the intimidation check didn’t pass. I still think his charisma should be relatively high, because he’s DRACULA and he’s been around for centuries (he’s had the time to work on it) but I’ll concede that he’s inconsistent in that regard, especially as he spirals further into his depression, and he wasn’t truly a charismatic type to start.

But everyone's pretty smart, and it sells the idea of "you don't need to like me, just like what I'm doing for you" that they all have. A nice departure from my experiences with DnD, and three great builds

It makes me so happy that you did the full Castlevania crew! I just wanted to say for anyone looking to play the magic caster of a small group, filling the role of support/ control/ blaster, think about taking a one level dip into cleric! Sypha always struck me a bit like a Mystic Thurge. Not entirely accurate but do not underestimate bless/ guidance, guiding strike, cure wounds/ healing word at higher levels. And if you go life or grave cleric, it can get really good really fast. Just wanted to mention this for all of my fellow wizards/ full casters out there :))

My personal favorite choice for "Signature Spell" is Catnap, which puts up to 3 targets asleep for up to 10 minutes, if they stay asleep for the full 10 minutes they gain the full benefits of a Short Rest (including, wouldn't you know it, your Signature Spell feature letting you Catnap 3 MORE people). It's a great way to give up to a party of 6 a full short rest in only 20 minutes.

Personally, I would've gone with Spell Sniper over War Caster for Sypha. Sypha likes to stay at range and rarely ends up in melee, so a spell reaction on a creature within 5ft is rarely going to happen. This also reduces the need for advantage on saves to maintain concentration since at range her only worry is ranged fighters and enemy spell casters, both of which can easily be mitigated through smart use of cover. Finally, she never has to worry about the somatic components of her spells being hampered since she doesn't wield anything in her hands. Spell Sniper - on the other hand - gives her another attack cantrip choice, doubles the range of her attack spells, and allows them to ignore 3/4 cover, which i feel is much more in line with her style.

For S1 Sypha? absolutely. For S3 and S4 Sypha? less sure. Sypha spends a lot of time in later seasons spiking night creatures on icicles and roasting vampires at very close range.

This is the third full wizard build I've seen (and third or fourth class with a full capstone of just one class, also considering the paladin, druid, and San, our one ranger that left the roster), which makes me both excited and anxious to eventually play a wizard to level 20 (and I have an idea for a loxodon abjuration wizard). Excited because it let's me turn my character's big brain into big damage to make my enemies explode. Anxious because I have a pathetic hit die, and if my rolls are crap, I could kiss this wizard goodbye.

Aye. Wizards to me really are problem solvers of the world; with enough foresight, they can have the tools to overcome any situation, even if traditionally those spells would be much less useful to a character with limited spell slots. Though Sorccers at the very least have a lot of cool tricks that makes their magic much more interesting and potent. Like people overlook that spells often have verbal or somatic components which can be observed by everyone; Sorc's are one of the few classes that could genuinely hide their magic use or cast completely silently.

@@dylansmall9699 i have seen that. But that just covers the whip. I wann see a belmont that lets you use the sub weapons. The Cross, the Holy Water, the Axe, etc. But all of those wouldn't really work in D&D without homebrew.

Darien B well, there’s already daggers and holy water, and you could theoretically throw handaxes in an arc... for flavor at least. Spirit guardians could be sort of like the holy book/bible and the stopwatch could be time-stop or haste... maybe even action surge if you want. The holy symbol,/cross is the only one that stumps me, really. Maybe a custom magic item “throwing cross” that has a dagger’s stats but does radiant damage and returns when thrown?

Actually DoomSlayer is probably going to be Path of Vengeance Paladin/Artificer after all the key parts of the build is the D&D equivalent to firearms including the Super Shotgun, the D&D equivalent to the Chainsaw, the D&D equivalent to the shoulder-mounted Flamethrower, and the Thunder Cannon to serve as D&D equivalent to the B.F.G. Although yeah Path of Vengeance Paladin will be a part of the build so we can get the D&D equivalent to the Praetor Armor via Heavy Armor Expertise, and the Two-Handed Weapon Expertise skill so we can the D&D equivalent to the Crucible Sword.

@@derrickhaggard I don't think artificer will be in the build, I mean,their based on int and Doonguy doesn't seem very booksmart. All of his arsenal is something's he's found not crafted so their more magic items as quest rewards. Vengeance pally doesn't seem right either, he's literally fighting heaven next game and he doesn't seem like the person to swear an oath, hell he doesn't even speak. I'd make him a brute fighter (barbarian was concidered but he's pretty clad in armor) and hexblade warlock (in the lore he literally made a deal with a devil to bring his son back and to make his armor) have spells like fireball be his rocket launcher and Eldritch blast as the super shotgun, use the invocation where it brings things closer to you with Eldritch blast and take the invocation where it makes jump a cantrip, he does have double jump after all. Varient Human of course, tough feat, soldier background

But is there something besides the Thunder Cannon that can serve as the D&D equivalent to the infamous B.F.G? And he can still be a Paladin but let's switch out Oath of Vengeance Paladin for Oathbreaker Paladin it fits within the lore plus he still gets the Heavy Armor Expertise so we get the D&D equivalent to the Praetor Armor, and the Two-Handed Weapon Expertise so we can have the D&D equivalent to the Crucible Blade. So a good DoomSlayer Build that's accurate to the lore could be Oathbreaker Paladin so we get the D&D equivalent of the Praetor Armor, and the D&D equivalent of the Crucible Blade, and Hexblade Warlock so we can get Fireball to serve as the Rocket Launcher, Eldritch Blast to serve as the Super Shotgun complete with Meathook attachment, now all we need is a powerful spell to serve as the B.F.G, and some Hexblade Warlock spells to serve as the Chainsaw, and the new Flamethrower.

Important note on Overchannel: the over-Overchannel necrotic damage is 2d12, plus an additional d12 for follow up Overchannels PER LEVEL OF THE SPELL. Meaning, second use of Overchannel with a basic lvl. 3 Fireball is 2d12 x 3 (total 6d12), third use is 3d12 x 3 (total 9d12), and so on. For something like lvl. 4 Wall of Fire or Ice Storm, it’s 2d12 x 4, etc. Adds up QUICK, especially on beefier spells like Cone of Cold.

We're going back to something a bit older with this set of suggestions, I don't know if you've done this yet, but I would like to see Gene Starwind, Suzuka, Jim Hawking, and Aisha ClanClan from Outlaw Star get their own builds, Melfina too, but she's a bit of a very special case. Actually, a good number of characters from Outlaw Star would probably make for some interesting builds, it would be a good idea to show how it can be done just in case someone's DM decides to do a Scifi Western that is a bit less Star Wars and a bit more something else. And just to point something out, Gene has a gun that is literally designed to shoot spells, the gun is even called a "Caster" but it needs special shells designed to hold the spells. Which as you can imagine, actually can make things a little tricky with production and procurement of said special ammo.

I've actually made an Aisha build myself. Tabaxi with Soldier background, score array goes STR, CON, WIS(just chalk it up to her senses and not actual wisdom), DEX, CHA, and INT. Then go lv 12 Barbarian(Totem Warrior at least for the first Bear Totem for resistance to everything but psychic damage while raging- she survived, among other things, a shot from Gene's caster that would've killed a human), lv 6 Druid(Circle of the Moon to Wild Shape into a saber-toothed tiger, the strongest feline form available), and lv 2 Monk(she fights unarmed most of the time, though it's one level away from being able to Deflect Missiles, something she does in canon by swatting a bullet out of the air, so shifting stuff around a bit would help that at the cost of either an ability improvement or the sabre-toother tiger, both of which I felt were too valuable). I would LOVE to see the others though. Suzuka or Gene would be insane. (Also her druid spells were mostly buffs to use on herself in case you were wondering)

@@Ty17V I was thinking the same- it really works for his caster. He only uses it occasionally, though, since the ammo is so limited. Probably most of his levels would be in martial classes, like Swashbuckler Rogue with Crossbow Expert in there to make better use of a hand crossbow, Tulok's go-to stand-in for a less magical gun. I haven't seen the show in a while- he uses hand-to-hand also, right? Maybe a dip in Fighter for the Unarmed Fighting style would be accurate too.

I always thought Sypha's fire was holy in some way, so maybe substitute the fire spells with radiant? Maybe ask your DM if you can just have variant of the original spells that channel sacred fire and deal radiant damage.

Amusingly, my first character was a Sorceress in an alternative Castlevania campaign. She was an ice witch who'd joined the castle after barely escaping being burned at the stake. She joined the heroes out of supposed self interest and helped fell Dracula before vanishing into the frozen North. Unfortunately I joined at the tail end of the campaign and there wasn't near enough time for the rest of the party to get her to open up to them about the revelation that prompted her change of heart.

Excellent build and thematic spell selection Tulok! I am curious why you chose Evocation school over the War Mage school, as Sypha's "cast fire/ice until it's dead" style seems like it would have fit better thematically, especially with the bonus to initiative representing her unusually high reflexes and reaction time, and the reactive magical defenses, like the ice spikes defense scene, getting repped by arcane deflection.

Sypha actually very strongly criticises her culture’s oral tradition. The reason she admires the Belmont archives in season 2 so much is because there’s an entire world of information stored there that no human mind could ever hope to catalogue and remember. Roleplay-wise, her being a wizard makes perfect sense.

Sypha can be rather easy, especially if you follow her lore. You can go two ways. 1. •Divine Soul Sorcerer, given that Sypha’s a natural born Witch and her magic was primarily holy to begin with (much like the Belmont’s magic, Trevor being a good example of using Holy Magic to help in his goals of helping the churches destroy Dracula and clear the peoples perceptions of the Belmont family, Trevor’s super strength definitely helped shift people’s perspectives of the Belmonts as he quite literally beat Dracula down his his bare fists in front of Sypha, Alucard and Grant). •And any kind of Cleric really, given that Sypha joined the Eastern Orthodox Church after Carmilla got Sypha’s family and friends killed (if the DM allows Amonkhet, then Zeal given her hatred for Night Creatures after they killed her family, was her primary reason for why she hunted monsters for the church). Base Cleric gives her proficiency with a Mace which will act as her Stave that she uses to bash in night creatures skulls with, plus it acts as her religious emblem (since it has the Eastern Orthodox Church’s cross as the head of it). Both classes give her access to some Fire, Ice and Lightning spells, those spells being her primary focus. Or. 2. •Wizard (15) Order of the Scribes as she’s a learned Witch, most of her training coming from Church Scholars. •Sorcerer (3), Divine Soul, again since her magic is both Holy and Innate, and also for the Heightened Spell metamagic. •Cleric (2), any subclass all for the same reasons), plus it takes away the need for the Transmute Spell metamagic. If you want Holy Lightning (her most powerful spell) to be her Most Powerful Spell, you could have Tempest or Zeal for the Channel Divinity: Tempest: Allows you to maximize damage for Lightning Zeal: Allows you to maximize damage for Fire or Thunder. Burning Hands/Scorching Ray etc. being the “Flames” spell as both are jettisons of flames. Lightning Bolt with Transmute Spell metamagic could be used as an even stronger version of this. Cone of Cold, Frostbite, Ray of Frost (really any cold spell that freezes or reduces someone’s movement speed) would be Frozen Crystals. Frozen Crystals freezes an enemy in place and can thus make them be used as steps to get to higher places, can freeze liquids such as running water. Snilloc’s Snowball Storm, Melfs Minute Meteors, Chain Lightning, Otiluke’s Freezing Sphere, Crown of Stars, or Meteor Swarm for Holy Lightning. As Holy Lightning will throw orbs of god given lighting at the enemies (potentially prompting a Dex save) mixed with Heightened Spell causing these spells to potentially hurt a lot. Of course, she wouldn’t be wearing heavy armors or armor at all as she used her hood to cover her face since the Witch Hunts that Carmilla started were still going on at the time, which would prompt her to take the name Cypher and disguise herself as a man. She didn’t become more open about herself until after she helped Trevor, Alucard and Grant kill Dracula (although it was Trevor who killed Dracula with the Vampire Killer and his Doom Guy like fists).
