If i understand the rules regarding line of sight the rules state for determining line of sight " a straight line from the figure’s SPACE to the target SPACE can be drawn without crossing any terrain that blocks line of sight." For determining a ranged attack " When measuring a ranged strike, a straight line is a line from the CENTER of one space to the CENTER of another space. " So potentially a figure can "see" an enemy (their leg, arm etc) but not be able to perform a ranged attack until they are in a better position.

Awesome vid! Thanks so much for this ! Very helpful as I am reading through the rule book trying to grasp everything. I'm still a bit confused on the terrain aspect of it but I'll get it. Thanks again!

Great to hear! If you are struggling with the terrain rules, I would suggest making sure you feel very confident with the basics of the game (0:32-9:09) and the Setup (20:06) through whichever mode you plan to play. Learn the terrain based on the maps and components you see in the battle comic setup. When learning terrain, try to think of all spaces on the map as normal (they have no affect on movement or line of sight) and any spaces surrounded in a color is an area that could change the rules of movement, sight, or both. Of the terrain types included in the first battle; slow, rough, unstable, and blocking terrain are the easiest to grasp. Elevated terrain has multiple functions, but if you can grok it then you will have smooth sailing from there.

So in competitive mode you activate all 4 enemy cards (Active Zones 1 and 2) per enemy turn? IE on the first enemy turn of the game you only get 2 activations because you only have 2 zone 1 cards in play, but every subsequent enemy turn you'll have 4 cards down so get the 4 activations, tossing out the zone 2 cards and gaining new ones each time your enemy turn comes up?
@mbiggums3299 Жыл бұрын
No. 2 cards activate every turn. The previous 2 cards are left face up, but they do not activate again on the next turn. The primary reason they remain face up is to to keep track of persistent effects. The most common one you might see is shell icons for defense of specific villain minis. If you use Facebook, the Adventures Universal Game System Fangroup is a great resource. I have included the link below. facebook.com/groups/TMNTShadowsOfThePast/

How does this game compare to the shadows of the past game?
@jackietrav4 жыл бұрын
Question about the climbing with AI enemies. At the 28:51, you said it a figure can use 2 actions to climb but that doesn't count as a move action. The way we have played it is that when the villain climbs, they are done for that turn unless they are a Leader. Since a normal thug/gunner/foot ninja has two actions, climb takes up everything they can do. Since a Leader has three actions, they can climb and then move or attack. Correct?
@mbiggums32994 жыл бұрын
That is correct. The flowchart I have linked has the rules changed so that AI villains only need to use 1 action to climb. This will be updated for the Batman the Animated Series Adventures game, but I left it as 2 actions in the video because that matches the rulebook that most people have. Playing with 1 action for climb makes it more difficult for the heroes. It is up to you what way you would like to play the game.

If a hero becomes knocked down AFTER their turn. And then the next round happens and they roll any chi symbols on dice. Do they still get the chance to heal?

Perhaps I'm missing something, but I don't quite get what you were saying about leaping around 11:01 - you mention that you can move over figures and up to 3 spaces, but it looks like you move 4.
@mbiggums32994 жыл бұрын
I incorrectly moved him 4 spaces. The max spaces a figure can be moved from leaping is 3.

Sorry, I am a little confused with the Hero skill card 'Double Slash'. Around the 9:30 mark it sounds like the card is activated by using two of the katana symbols and one focus to activate a 4 dice attack. He then adds two extra katana which add an extra dice per katana I believe, so shouldn't the total dice roll be eight (rather than seven)?
@mbiggums32994 жыл бұрын
The icons used to activate the card are not used in the final attack. The card is Attack + 4. Leonardo's attack is 1 so he rolls 1+4=5 dice. In that example, 2 extra katana icons were spent adding 2 battle dice to the roll which gives a grand total of 7 battle dice rolled.

I had no idea that is what you used the manhole covers for. I thought they were used for certain scenarios. It is a good idea.
@mbiggums32994 жыл бұрын
It was in the rulebook for Shadows of the Past, but it looks like it was left out of this one. I imagine that is still the designers' intention because I don't know of a battle that uses 24 of them. Also, if you got the Kickstarter exclusives, you do not need to use them for that because you slide the dice in the slots to show they are used.

Pretty sure at 32:13 Raphael has to block three, not two.
@mbiggums32993 жыл бұрын
At base stats, yes. However, in the described situation, Raphael has less health than Donatello. Meaning one of the Gunner's would switch to Donatello, and Raphael would only have to block hits from 2 Thug Gunners.
@OreosAreSoGood3 жыл бұрын
Oh! Good point, thanks! The gunners are still the hardest part to understand in this game for me.
@OreosAreSoGood3 жыл бұрын
Not that it matters, and I may even still be wrong but after reading more about this I think the video is still incorrect (or unclear. The first action all the gunners do is attack if they are in OSR. At the beginning Raphael should take take a two dice attack from those two gunners in the bottom right who have LOS on him. Donatello takes a one dice attack. After that the upper right most gunner will move down towards whichever turtle has the most health. Then all four gunners with LOS will attack accordingly.

@@OreosAreSoGood An AI figure will not move to get into OSR if a figure is already in OSR. The preference only matters if a figure is not currently in OSR.

I was busy when I responded last night. At 32:13, the top right thug gunner does not attack for that first activation because he moved during it. If you aren on Facebook, I highly recommend join the IDW AUGS group because there is a flow chart describing exactly how units should activate.
