But you can! I’ve been working on a two bar Tower of Power beat for two weeks. It never changes! We just keep working! Thanks for watching!

I,m an old man but we always called that a KC shuffle. Well before Texas blues became popular.

Can you explain what you mean by "double" shuffle on the snare drum? Thanks

You might have clarified this during the short time I spaced out while watching, sorry 🙄

I've been playing for 2 months now. The more I try to learn about drums the more I think I made a huge mistake. This stuff is hard!

Glad to hear that you are drumming! Like any skill set time takes time. Some of the techniques in this video are a little subtle. If you’re playing some blues and can just get a solid shuffle happening you are good to go for quite a while!

Maybe you could focus on playing. Playing is supposed to be fun. There's no such thing as a good drumming, just drummers having a good time.

What you call a "backwards shuffle" is widely known as a "flat tire" because of its sound. Onomatopoeia (tchalka).

I'm going to use that! Thanks!

Right on. Was going to make same comment. I hear it referred to as flat tire more than backwards around here, in Houston.

You are one of the few that does a good job on the shuffle, 99.999% of the drummers play this wrong. But you forget to point it out in this video or you are not even aware of it. You need to bounce up on that rimshot, that is the whole thing that makes it fall into the right timing. Instead of thinking down "I am gonna hit that snare hard!" you need to think up "i am bouncing up as high as i can to get in that groove!" The hand goes back on the 2 soft hits and forward on the rimshot and then bounce up. I see you do that but not many who watches this will understand the importance of that detail. check out kzbin.info/www/bejne/nniVpGN8qbekoZo for a very good sample of bounce. Keith also fails to mention what he does.

Thanks a lot and I know exactly what you mean about bounce off the rim shot. I moved my hand out of the way so people could see it clearly. I’ll check out that other video! Cheers!
