I had the idea years ago to do a faked video of someone playing this tune on that instrument, figuring it was technically impossible. Using a tremolo to create the same sound is a brilliantly ingenious idea, bravo!

I saw what you could do with just a tremolo on the theremin. Gives me so many ideas about uses for the theremin. It really is the unsung hero of music scores.

I find the tremolo does sound good for the piece, but I like to hear more the glissando effect in this piece, as it seems, to my ear, more fitting for the motion of a bee in constant flight, dipping and raising. I also like the idea of tricking the listener into hearing "phantom" notes between E, C, and F.

Just try it with a midi accompaniment and set a VST tremolo plug in to midi clock to get accurate pulses otherwise the accompaniment tempo and the tremolo tempo will drift out of time.

Hah! Wonderful. When I saw you playing this I guessed you were using midi out from the theremin and quantising to notes. But tremolo is so much more elegant (and skilful!).

I assume you also utilized 'Magic Thumb' lights that jumped from hand to hand throughout your performance. Perhaps it might be a little 'easier' performing this piece on a Moog Theremini, given the distinct scales, effects and other features it has which makes it especially user friendly for beginners.

Can you try playing tremolo with your fingertips with straight phalanges? I can move them very very fast. And at the same time, the exact same volume control is performed by throwing out the brush in the wrist area and in the shoulder. And I can swing my fingers for a long time. I just need to find the right movement in my wrist, otherwise it starts to get clogged. Another option is to put a smaller gain and raise your hand from below. Then I can make small movements with my middle finger. At the same time, there is also control in the wrist and shoulder. I am a guitarist, and for me such a movement is more natural. Will any of this work? Oh my hand... pain...

Do you strengthen your fingers in different ways to help stability. I also wonder about the core so your chest doesn't move. This is amazing. I played viola but I cannot have weight on my hands so much anymore. So, this sounds & looks interesting and cool. I'm so glad a friend sent me a video of a theremin being played.

Tamber, the mother of all Thereminists, Clara Rockmore, was a violin prodigy who had to give up her instrument due to injury. You can start playing Theremin today, and adapt your technique to your physical limitations. :)

Hey, I'm looking to learn how to play the theremin. I don't intend to do anything professional with it, but I do plan on getting serious with it and properly learning it and playing it quite often. I've been looking at a bunch of different theremins, and the two that I'm debating between getting are the Moog Etherwave Plus, and the Moog Claravox Centennial. Was wondering which you would recommend. Any input from anyone would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance if you answer! Also, if you have a different model that you would recommend, let me hear it! I want to be as knowledgeable as possible with this instrument.
