I mean it’s bc it’s true. I consume a lot of this content and it’s very annoying to watch something and realise they told you nothing the game / website doesn’t also have. The game is popular and a lot of tourist creators want to engagement farm with it. I find the best way to find good guides is to find out if they are diamond+ in the game. At that stage, they’ve played enough to actually tell you what you should be doing, thinking, matchups etc. and yea like the other comment says eskays guide is great bc she actually knows these things.

I tried playing Doctor Strange and setting up a portal flank at round start. I accidentally clicked my portal too early, and I thought I fucked my team over, but the enemy team happened to all walk exactly in that room and we killed them. GM strange main here: One thing I see NO ONE talk about is the fact that if you cancel Strange’s basic attack too quickly with melee or shield, you actually deal LESS damage with the basic attack. I just found this out today and it blew my mind. So make sure you don’t melee too quickly after a basic attack.

What's the appropriate timing then? Just not immediately after the moment you stop shooting?

@ it’s kind of hard to explain here but if you go to practice range you’ll be able to get down the timing very easily. So Strange’s normal basic attack shoots out five projectiles, which leaves fives holes on the wall, but if you cancel the attack too quickly with melee, it can only shoot out 1-2 projectiles. Try hitting the wall with different timing and you’ll see what I mean.

another tip: once your reload animation is about 2/3 done you can cancel it into shield and you'll be fully reloaded. Just make sure you don't cancel too early or you will get nothing

One caveat that wasn't covered by sajam (i'm guessing because this started getting talked about within the last day at least from what i've seen so he wouldn't have known about it) is that lots of things are affected by the framerate of the game, and one of the examples is strange's flight ability, if the game is running at high fps, like over 150, it has more horizontal reach like it does in the examples sajam showed, but if the game is running below something like that you basically only go straight up.

@@johndelanie3649there are a million insanely dumb things tied to frame rates. Some things reaching further than others, some might even do more damage. I remember there being a reddit thread on it.

All things *tied to framerate* are accidental, the devs aren't intentionally tying these things to frame rate, it's an oversight when programming. IF you don't include the time between frames in your change over time statements, you will have frame dependent changes which results in unintended behavior. It's really not hard to fix, but it's easy to forget to add.

I know it's probably too detailed to get into for a video like this but there's so many maps you can use strange portal to make getting back to point miserable for the enemy team or just straight up prevent them from leaving spawn room for 20 seconds. Those portals can single handedly win you games

another thing to note is if you get to around 65% of the way through his reload animation (can track it with the reload bar) you can cancel the rest of it buy pulling out his shield to reload quicker

I believe with some of the ultis (eg. namor, winter soldier) you dont want to aim the shield up to block it, you want to aim it at the center of the big ground AOE they create. Moon Knight ulti i believe you just cannot block.

I've actually been holding shift as Dr Strange before ulting and that seems to work better for me. Every time I'd try to press shift twice it wouldn't register the second shift because I think you can't cancel it immediately after he floats. But holding it seems to cancel it as soon as possible, so for me personally I like doing it that way because it's more fluid and faster.

When you start your portal, one of your buttons will say Reposition instead of Place. Hit it there to move the first portal.
