Nvidia really should introduce custom resolution profiles per game, with how much inconsistencies there are with borderless window mode, the only mode supported by many games today.

My mouse supports custom DPI per application, why the hell GPU doesn't?

It'd be great of we could set up custom resolution profiles for different games because doing this whenever I want to play one game and then changing it back would be pretty tedious. Still, kudos to you and I support your efforts to get blizzard to recognize tall pixels

Short Pixel Peasants, meet Tall Pixels Kings! I got to say, that does look much better and I didn't play WC1 in it's original release so it's not nostalgia talking. I bet people would pick Tall Pixels look if offered side-by-side comparison, even the icons are almost square and much more pleasing.

really looks amaizingly better with the stretch pixels.... It feels like the remaster was done by an AI, without 0 knowledge of the first game.

I'm wondering what the odds are that Blizzard will implement a toggle at some point... Regardless, thanks for the tip!
@mickcraftgamingКүн бұрын
I'm thinking 60% chance, primarily just because of how easy this should be to implement. You're welcome!
@CanuoveaКүн бұрын
Yeah, it'd be nice if Blizzard could fix it instead of requiring players to mess around with computer settings.

Hey Mick, love your energy about the pixels. I tried the approach and it works, but when I record a video and later watch it in a classic 16:9 resolution, I have black bars at the top and bottom-so basically an ultrawidescreen view. I assume you adjusted the aspect ratios afterward in your video software?
@mickcraftgaming3 сағат бұрын
Yep! The video records in ultrawide and I applied a 1.2x scaling modifier to the Y axis. You could also make the render size 16:9 in your video editor and assign the video to stretch to fill. Depending on what kind of editor you have. I hope this helps!

Blizzard probably spent about 1 day of work on this remaster. This would be too much effort.
@mickcraftgaming7 сағат бұрын
Probably, but I hope this fix is only a couple of hours. Probably the hardest part of it would be adding a toggle.
@Zhakaron7 сағат бұрын
Blizzard established a small games team after being acquired by Microsoft. The goal is to produce products on a smaller budget. I have no doubt that some full time employees did spend a sizable amount of time, but at the end of the day smaller budget means AI upscaling and touching up the quirks after the fact. Can't be paying too many people or it wouldn't be small budget anymore. Remasters are ripe for this kind of abuse. 🙁

Do you know if similar thing can be done with Starcraft Brood War / Remastered with old graphics (640x480 native) or that's applicable only to 320x240 dos games?
@mickcraftgaming7 сағат бұрын
StarCraft Brood War is thankfully not impacted by tall pixels 😊 Also, Blizzard did a good job with that remaster and included an option to force pillar boxes if you prefer the game in 4:3
@flavorgod15 сағат бұрын
Do you know if StarCraft/BroodWar use tall pixels?
@mbauerish13 сағат бұрын
No it does not
@Jason_Bryant11 сағат бұрын
"tall pixels" was just a thing on games released during the VGA era, when the screen resolution was 320x200. Anything after the original Warcraft had a higher resolution and square pixels.
@mickcraftgaming10 сағат бұрын
It does not. Warcraft 1 is the only game in the Warcraft/StarCraft series that uses tall pixels
@TMoDDD9 сағат бұрын

@mickcraftgaming9 сағат бұрын
@TMoDDD that would be pretty hardcore haha - the War1gus mod for Warcraft 1 does that!
@9ij517 сағат бұрын
The roads look worse though 😮
@mickcraftgaming10 сағат бұрын
Yep, that's a problem caused by the remastered graphics though rather than the tall pixels
