This new series of pedals is very, very interesting. It's also at a more competitive price point than other pedals that do the same type of thing, and from what I've heard, sounds like studio quality gear. I'll have to see about doing demos on these in the near future. Cheers

I am using this preamp in my effects loop as the first pedal there - are the pedals after it (reverb/delay/etc) in danger of being over amped?

Is that a Marshall JTM 60 in the background? I have one of these. I've had it for years and its always been my backup as its a little quieter than some of my other goto amps. Great sounds though. I admit... I am curious about amp-in-a-box and may soon try it out..

So, are you telling me that that the DI/CAB SIM out is a balanced TRS that can go directly to the mixing console with just a balanced TRS to male XLR cable without an external DI box? And that the other output can go directly to a FRFR speaker for my monitoring?

Treat it as if it was the preamp of the amplifier you're connecting to, meaning that everything you would normally put in the FX loop should be placed after it.

DI Cab out into TRS line input or XLR mic input? There is difference in volume, manual says nothing about this....

Would it be possible to use with amps that don't have an FX loop, like my Fender Pro Jr?

Possible? Yes, but it won't be as accurate in its depiction of the emulated amplifier, because you are stacking the tone of the pedal with the tone of your actual amplifier. Only your ears can tell if that's good or bad.

Thanks for the reply. I meant will it sound ok, not necessarily if it's "possible". Anyway, it won't apply to me anymore, as I just traded the Pro Jr for a Mustang GTX50, which itself has excellent emulators for many amps, Fender and others, and I like it a lot. Thanks anyway!

you’ll need a power amp of some kind before it goes into the cab

Yes and no. To maximize the sound of the emulation in the pedal, it should be connected to the FX loop but with your guitar cable going into the pedal rather than into the input of the amplifier.

@@MrGul So I would plug my series of in-front pedals (tubescreamer/wah/etc) into the Ampworx? (Guitarx>Wah>TS808>(etc)>Ampwor>FX Return). I can see this, but it commits one to using only the Ampworx instead of the amp's preamp. Hmmm, maybe there is some way to switch this...

Yes you can no problem. It will then no longer be a balanced signal so be carefull with long cable runs.

It's a bit confusing. Turn this into the FX loop ? My distortion and overdrive pedals are going into the front of the amp and my time based fx into the fx loop. Seen most of the vids about the TC electronic ampworx only used with an audio-interface for e.g. recording. Is it worth using it on your pedalboard? Need some explanation here.

He said “into the return of your fx loop.” That’ll bypass your amps preamp, and you’d just be hearing this. If you want to use it as a distortion pedal into a clean amp channel, it has a bypass mode as well.

The title was a bit confusing to read... A "plugin" is something that you plug in, it can't be used as a verb (it's always "plug in" when used as a verb).
