Don't stack the wheels on top of each other. Clean the workpiece with alcohol between grits. The wheels are all contaminated with different grits. Try Large freezer bags. One wheel in its own bag. Same goes for the compound. Keep each compound in the bag with its matching wheel. Stored in a pile on the bench they pick up crap. ✌

You started 1 grit too high. start with 120 grit on flap wheel. Or clamp the piece and hit it with 100 grit sanding disc. It's also useful to have a 20x hand loop, magnifying glass. You can see if you've still got surface imperfections from the original milling process. If you start at the correct grit level you'll save A LOT of time and get a true mirror polish.
