Hi, I have blue Pearl which naturally has a lot of pitting. Some of these pits have been exposed and become discoloured. It catches a bit if you run your nail over the area. Tried to get a few quotes and a few places have said it is not possible to polish these out and too small to fill? What’s your take? Also, what granite is shown in this video? It is stunning.

As a handyman, I’m thinking I could use this as an additional income skill? Have you tried the cordless one? How much would be a good rate to charge for this, materials included?
@tedmcfadden
@tedmcfadden 6 ай бұрын
I would not use the cordless one. As far as rate goes, it depends on where you are, how much competition you have, and your skill level. Prices range from $450-850 for a standard clean polish and seal with a good impregnator. The higher prices can include some caulking and other services. The lower prices are typically when the service is grouped with a larger project.

@@tedmcfadden can you recomend a sealer? after polishing with the mb20
@tedmcfadden
@tedmcfadden 20 күн бұрын
@@waznyk88 I like MB21, More Premium, Stainproof, Stone Pro and other impregnators. Whatever you use get a full saturation by agitation and dwell time and remove completely then use a polish preserver to lock it in until it cures. I love Finito Ultimate and Finishing Touch

What’s the best process or tools to use to get rid of scratches and small chips towards the edge

There are a lot of variables to this question. Can you tell me what material, edge detail, and size of the chips?

@@tedmcfadden it’s just a kitchen granite worktop similar to the one your working on in the video, we have just renovated our kitchen and the granite is getting put back in but mainly the edges need polishing and straghtening

@@realpeopletv2779 if you can afford it, I would call a pro for scratching. This polishing video is great for polishing but it will not remove scratches. I have a DIY kit in my store that is great for use on a drill. It comes with everything you need. For the chips I would use fill a chip or CA glue. There is a filachip video on my channel and several more out there. It’s a UV cured adhesive that is applied and then shaved down with razor blades. I have some videos on my calendar to better explain this but have been behind in production for some time.

What are advised RPMs? Is it ok to use BoschGPO 14 CE (750-3000 RPMs) for this work on an engineered stone countertop?
@tedmcfadden
@tedmcfadden 6 ай бұрын
Low speed to prevent the compound being thrown around or drying too fast. MB20 will polish engineered stone but it may make the finish too shiny and remove the snakeskin look. There are other methods for engineered stone that will polish the quartz then knock down the resin slightly to blend the finish. It all depends on what the goal is.

@@tedmcfadden Have you used quartz renew? Can you say anything about this product?
@tedmcfadden
@tedmcfadden 6 ай бұрын
@@green76044 Yes I have used it and like it. With quartz, there is never a definite product that will work 100% of the time but I do have this product in my toolbox when I am doing quartz.

I have a dull spot after using a dish washing sponge. The snakeskin is in place. I have read and viewed dozens of videos with mb-20 and quartz renew. I decided to have a try with mb-20 first on piece of identical quartz that is left after installation. If it does not work then I will try quartz renew. Do you think this is the way to go or mb-20 is not the best choice?

How do you charge customers for a job like this?
@tedmcfadden
@tedmcfadden 22 күн бұрын
It depends on if it’s a stand alone or part of a larger job, the amount of polishing, size of the kitchen and if additional work diamond is needed to pop a shine. We charge between $350 - 650+

I have a black granite counter top but the edges on the cuts look mate,grey not shiny, can a polish make them shine???
@tedmcfadden
@tedmcfadden 9 ай бұрын
I recommend using the upper grits of granite diamonds first. But essentially the answer is yes. Usually the issue with that is color and not necessarily shine. Mb20 may do both but the diamonds may help.

Will polishing remove small scratches?
@tedmcfadden
@tedmcfadden 8 ай бұрын
No but it may hide them a little. Granite is hard to scratch so truly removing scratches requires diamond work.
