Rob from StonePro demonstrates how you can restore Granite counter tops. There is NOTHING you can do to damage the stone that can't be fixed. What most homeowners do is clean stone with water thinking it wont hurt it, but it really is one of the worse things you can do to natural stone. Using Stone Scrub, he removes the hard water stains left behind. After letting it sit for a bit, he uses crystal clean to remove the stone scrub. Using Granite Potea and a variable speed polisher, you buff the granite until its dry. Adding the crystalizer for some wetness.

I have used this process in 5 different homes. 3 were not in bad shape with little to no scratches and it worked awesome! the other two were pretty foggy from hard water cleaning. Again they turned out perfect with better than factory finish. One had a fairly deep scratch and had to be honed out and finished with this process. I was extremely impressed with the results and so were my clients. Trust me.... You are not doing an entire kitchen with several tops and an island in 20 minutes. I mask off everything though. Take your time and remember, you do not need much of this powder. What I do different than the video: I use a hog hair pad on slowest speed to apply stone scrub. let it set and clean as in the video. I use hog hair pad instead of steel wool. This process does work well especially when the tops just need a good cleaning, seal, and polish.

Wait 1 hr before using the countertop // First 24 hrs - repels water // Second 24 hrs - repels water and oil // Third 24 hrs - it is fully cured. You can use whatever polisher you'd like, just drop the RPMs down between 600-800.

I experimented with permanent black maker and it seems to stick on the granite pretty well. I tried to rub it off and it won't come off. The only thing is that the marker ink can be removed with rubbing alcohol. I wonder if I stain it with the marker and then seal it with some sort of sealant would that work?

Hello, I would like to know what is the reason that you are not using simple water as a basic lubricant? Also, what pressure are you applying when using the angle polisher? A steel wool plate, can you say how would you define it in GRIT? 200, 400?? Thank-you!
@JRacensteinCo
@JRacensteinCo 9 жыл бұрын
Water has hard water minerals in them. It will dull down the surface. The polisher is variable speed. 500-2800 RPM. Steel wool should be 0000.

Can I make a suggestion? Perhaps it’s not the best idea to start off your video with the words “here’s a way to squeeze a little bit more money out of your customer ...” Even if true , a more diplomatic way of wording this that doesn’t sound like you’re trying to nickel and dime them for everything they’ve got might be good.. just sayin..

I think companies should consider all input as valuable, so if you saw it that way, perhaps they could word it differently. But just to clarify, they didn’t I didn’t use the phrase “squeeze more money out of” (which can imply a deceptive way to nickel and dime customers). They said “make more money” and talked about this being an easy add on sale. I agree, because I was bummed that the company we just hired didn’t offer this to us. I would have gone for it in a heartbeat because our bathroom is half older granite and half newer. Now I am here to see if I can improve this for myself, but I would happily have paid someone else, because I will have to buy the materials to do it myself.

@@fannyfreckle you’re right.. the word “squeeze” was not used . The exact words were “..a way to “get a little more money out of your customers”. I apologize for adding words inadvertently ..as words DO matter. But it doesn’t come off that much better IMO.. I feel like an honest sales pitch should Never be something you wouldn’t want your customer to read. (In “theory” I should say ..) It could be like “..a way to offer a little more value to your customer while at the same time maximizing your profit opportunity ” or whatever .. just one persons opinion.. and you know what they say about Those😏

@jennybanh7959

Stock granite is generally just basic and this whole process would get everything looking extra brilliant. Think of the car industry nowadays, you can buy a brand new car but its still not perfectly clean and people are now ceramic coating their paint for extra shine and protection. This process is basically the equivalent of that. Depending on how much work you want to put in... the process described in the video would be the method. If you didnt want to do EVERY step in the video, you could just do the Stone Scrub and Crystal Clean as your regular maintenance products.

Many granite polishing paste, compounds and powders have magnesium flourosilicate in them and they work just fine. Maybe you should try for yourself before condeming it. OYE! Kitchens are so much maintenance today. Go back to the easy to clean Formica. Much quieter to. Not so much loud noise in a kitchen. Stainless is just as bad. These kitchen would never last back in the days when people cooked all meals and kitchens didn't look like they are never used.

This isn't right. You shouldn't have to be going back to customers houses to resurface the tops. Instead, you should be informing your customers on how to clean the tops. One of the big reasons why people go with granite, is so they don't have to deal with the maintenance and repairs that you do with corian and such. Consumers will start to stray away from natural stone if they think there will be problems down the road, and they have to hire someone to fix it.

+matthewcoy45 Agree. The distributors/installers of stone products should be teaching their customers how to properly maintain the stone. But sometimes people will clean with water or clean with other types of daily cleaners which starts to dull the surface. Its up to the stone owner to decide if they want to hire a professional or decide to do the restoration themselves.

+matthewcoy45 They want to rip the customers off! "Guaranteed to keep you in your customers home at least once a year!" "In and out in 20 mins!" Sounds to me that this guy wants to buy a boat, some strippers, and coke, and go sailing down to the Bahamas on his customers hard earned money!
