I’ve had neurological issues stemming from surgery that forced me to begin a new season of life or to curl up and die. Since I’m unable to work within my vocation, while no longer able to compete in road cycling and racquet sports, detailing provides the physical therapy of eye / hand / balance coordination I’ve needed to stay healthy physically and emotionally. A true feeling of relevancy that had been missing. Thanks for keeping detailing fun and fulfilling.

Retired Peace Officer here as well. I grew up around cars, and my Father was a car fanatic so the groundwork for my obsession with cars began quite young. While working in Law Enforcement, it definitely helped keep your mind busy to work on the cars, detailing,, modifiying and whatnot. I must admit, I spent A LOT of time in the garage and not as much time with my family. Yes my cars looked perfect, but my marriage wasn't and I ended up getting divorced after 10 yrs and had 2 kids. That was very tough. Over the years, there has been SO MANY PRODUCTS and SO MANY OPINIONS on what to use and how to use it. For me? I am always willing to learn, I have learned some new things here, I relate closer to Yvan probably due to our age, we are of a similar age and life experience. There are more than one way to do things, but as I am getting older, I want to work smarter not harder. Being in my 50's living in an EXTREMELY HOT climate where my garage can get into the 120's while detailing the cars isn't as much fun as it used to be, throw in a knee injury, shoulder injury and a back injury that cut my career short (23 yrs) I just want to keep things as simple as possible. I do appreciate the approach you guys have, and your products I have yet to try them (don't want to waste the products I already have) I do find the approach to detailing that you guys have a nice change to a very confusing and at times cut throat business. I have never done this stuff as a job, but have done detailing for decades on my own not just my own cars but friends and family. I just never charged them. I just enjoyed the process. Keep up the good work. 👍

I'm glad you said what you said Yvan, because my 15 year old Focus has had evil things done to it over the years, not by my hand, but from horrible people, and even though i take good care of it, i know her paint will never be perfect, she has key marks on the trunk lid, and scratches on the hood, a dent from a shopping cart someone did 3 months brand new, i wash and apply sealant to it every 12 months to try to protect it the best i can, she sits out 24/7 in direct sun in my driveway because i don't have a garage. I don't own a polisher, as i don't think these key marks will ever be improved, they seem so deep. I do own a black and decker hand sander but i don't know if i'm confident enough to do anything as far as polishing. She also, ive notice has slight clearcoat failure over the passanger side door from sun damage.I watch your videos, Thank you for your teachings!

C6 APP, I have heard other detailers say not to use products that "swell" the paint. Is C6 safe for all types and ages of paint? Is there a situation aside from C6 pro coatings that you would say lets just use the panel prep here instead of the C6 APP?

There are products that swell and fill, C6 Ceramics Adhesion Promoter Polish (APP) opens the pores and makes it more receptive to coating. C6 Ceramics are safe for all paints and coatings.

I was polishing my son's car, and was using predominately the yellow pad. I had two spots on the car that had a few scratches that I wanted to try and improve ,so I used the microfibre pad. I was cleaning the pads with rinesless ringing them out and spinning in another bucket. the micro fibre pad seemed to wear out in the inner part so I stopped using it. Is that an issue and was I doing something wrong. I was polishing outside and in the sun, but was doing small sections and wiping with a damp rinseless and using ceramic gloss right away. Car turned out great.

I almost panicked when you started talking about applying C6 APP until you confirmed my Hercules forced rotation polisher was okay for application.

5x5x5 for the attempt and shiny scratches after that. I spot reduce via the 5’s method on deeper scratches first and shiny scratches after. I’ve bought too much product for a few years “trying them all” and now to reduce my product before I retire I do freebie enhancements when I can. I’ve done a few dozen over a few years now and will continue to do so until we sell our house and move abroad next year. I will continue to use my own products and time for free as this is MY Therepy. I love to make people’s day. When they see their car after I’m done they can’t believe it. If they scratch it after they are still happy. I’ll do a wash, clay, seal and it shines for them again. I post a lot of my videos here on KZbin of me just having a good time doing this.

Thank you for asking. Please remember to not judge a dude doing free enhancements for friends and family unless it’s good judgement 😁. youtube.com/@michaelabernathy?si=iW0k8dqh32cGBnRM

Your very welcome and very good podcast full of valuable information 😊, Question when are you coming out with a weather changing machine ? As all it’s done here in north east of Scotland is rain lol . So can’t get c6 hydro applied yet to my Mazda cx60
@diydetailofficial
@diydetailofficial 5 ай бұрын
@neilbenzie3618 you only need one hour without rain to apply the coating, or borrow a friends garage or shed for a few hours

If you are professional detailer then use all these advices in this Q&A…..BUT if you are just a weekend warrior then use just elbow grease. Don’t even consider buying a DA or Rotary….think of clear coat like a thin sheet of gold. Once you wear out clear coat it is game over.
