@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching, when all else fails, you have to polish. The only other thing you can do is use a heavy duty clay bar, which would require you to polish either way. It sounds like the sand granules have embedded into the clear coat, we doubt they'll come out easily. Chemical Guys Alex

If you polish and then notice there is scratches on paint is it okay to do a paint correction right after? Or does it damage the paint?
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Ralphie, It's all trial and error. Let's say you use a V36 polish but you still notice that there are still scratches and swirl marks, you can decide to go a little heavier with a V34 and so forth. Always remember to start light and to start on an inconspicuous area to test it out and see if you like the results you're getting. Yes, to answer your question, it is safe to do a paint correction right after if you still say scratches on your paint.

How often would you say to wax your car? I want what's best for my car. Thanks for the videos they're awesome and nice GT!!
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Rodney, how's it going? How often you need to wax your car depends on a variety of factors such as climate, driving habits, the kind of wax you use, where you store your car overnight, where you park during the day, etc. Depending on all these factors, your wax coat can last anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. You can always test to see if your current wax coat is still effective by pouring a little water on it and seeing how it beads off. You can wax and coat your vehicle as often as you'd like. What can hurt your paint finish is improper detailing techniques and unclean surfaces. Use proper detailing techniques and take care to ensure the surface is clean so you do not grind dirt into the paintwork whenever waxing. Thanks for being part of the Chemical Guys family, Rodney, and stay tuned for more videos coming your way soon!

Is the clay bar a one time use only, or can it be used multiple times or on multiple cars?
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Trent, You can definitely use the clay bar more than once on multiple cars. Now, if you do happen to drop the clay bar on the floor by accident, it's rendered useless. Since it has fallen, it has picked up a lot of filth and contaminants that if you use it again, you risk adding unwanted scratches to your vehicle. Think of it like gum, once it has fallen on the ground, you can't chew it again.

Hi Do you have recommendations how to remove asphalt from car because i got some on my car when i was driving on new asphalt street Thanx
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 7 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for watching our videos, we really appreciate it. You always want to start with a clean surface. I would try using a clay bar of light abrasiveness to see if it comes off, if you move up to a medium or heavy clay bar, you will need to polish the paint. Polishing the paint should definitely remove the asphalt since you're technically sanding the clear coat. Be sure to use a clay luber with the clay bar to prevent marring. We also carry a Bug & Tar Heavy Duty Car Wash Shampoo that will help remove the tar latched onto the paint surface. You could use the shampoo in a sprayer bottle, make sure to dilute. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4XCo2V6qNBmoac

How many times do you have to apply polish on the pad during the job?
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Rino, that depends on how severe the paint is scratched and swirled. You have to work on small areas roughly 2' * 2' so you basically have to do this all around the car until you're done. Unless you're using a single stage compound, you will be using several polishes, or a compound and a polish to correct the paint. You'll probably apply polish at least eight to ten times, it really depends on the size of the car, and the condition of the paint. Stay tuned buddy, more great videos are on the way. C.G. Alex -

I got a TorqX for Christmas, along with V32,34,36,38 and a white/orange/black pad. I used the orange pad with V36, and still saw a good bit of swirls in the paint after i finished, any reason as to why or what I might have been doing wrong?
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Ryan! Thanks for your message. The paint may need a more aggressive product to refine the clear coat, the polish didn't have enough work time to break down or the pad was moving too fast. I recommend trying the same combination in a 2 foot by 2 foot section, using 5 dime size dots of V36 and work the polish until it is translucent, this should take 4 or 5 passes. - CG Nick

How often does one replace the clay bar when claying the entire car?
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 6 жыл бұрын
Hey buddy, thanks for watching this great video. The Clay bar is like a lint roller for deeply embedded contaminants, eventually the clay bar will become engorged with pollution. When the clay bar becomes too contaminated, you have to roll it over to expose fresh clay. When you start using the clay, you break off a piece of the clay bar, and knead it into a disk. You know it's time to toss the clay bar when you can't roll the clay over anymore. You can get many uses out of them before you have to discard the clay. I personally like the clay block, I find it to be very easy to use, and it can be cleaned off if the clay block is dropped. Stay tuned for more great videos coming your way. C.G. Alex -

Quick question, if you just clay bar a section of the car and finish it off with butter wet wax, will the paint fade in the long run? Or should I be okay? Thank you.
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 7 жыл бұрын
In the long run, yes, because Butte Wet Wax was not designed for lengthy protection. Butter Wet Wax can provide you protection for about 3 - 6 weeks. This is why we always highly recommend you add a sealant before a wax because of it's durability and length of protection. Take JetSeal for example: it's able to provide protection from the harshest elements like repelling UV solar rays, pollution, water spots, bug and bird residues, and road grime for up to 12 months! Thanks for being part of the Chemical Guys family, Brandon!

Hey Sebastien. Every time you use a clay bar, or block you need to apply a clay luber or quick detail spray to provide lubrication so that you don't add any additional marring to the paint. You want to make sure that the clay bar never drags along the surface of the paintwork.

Hey Krishan, It sounds like they really did a number on your vehicle. In order to really know what you need for your paint, we'd have to see pictures, but even then it'll come down to your own judgment and trying out different compounds and polishes on different inconspicuous areas. We always recommend you start with a lighter polish on an inconspicuous area and see if it does the job. If not, use the next step up until you see the best results. Start with the V36 because it has the ability to remove light to moderate swirls, scratches, oxidation and paint defects. Happy Detailing!

@ChemicalGuys

Hi Justin, There are a lot of ways to get that sticky residue off, but since you're saying that you want something to use before a polish, we recommend that you use our (Light) Blue Clay Bar paired with a Clay Luber. Since you need to make sure you get rid all contaminants from the surface for the polish, the Clay Bar is perfect to get that residue off and every other contaminant on it. Just be sure to have enough lubricant when you're claybarring to prevent marring and scratches.

@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Jose, thank you for stopping by and watching our video. Claying is an important step because it purges contaminants from the pores and the surface of the paint. If left unclayed, polishes and waxes will not be able to work as effectively. Imagine if you applied sunscreen to dirty oily skin, the oils from your skin would prevent the sunscreen from adhering to your skin. Polishing unclyaed paint means you're polishing small specs of dirt that will inhibit the polish's ability to remove the clear coat. Waxes and sealants will have a tough time bonding to the paint because they inhabit places in the paint that will be occupied by smaller dirt particles. Instead of bonding to the paint, the waxes will bond to the dirt leaving those places exposed to other contaminates and will leave gaps that will be vulnerable to the sun. It's important to clean the paint thoroughly, that's how the pros do it, that's how we do it. Stay tuned for more great videos Jose, we've got a brand new video launching today. C.G. Alex -

Are your gallons of product affordable enough to detail multiple cars a week ?
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Granyte, The gallons of our products is the best bang for your buck, especially when expecting to detail multiple cars per week. When it comes to our soaps, we recommend you use between 1 -3 ounces per wash for the best results, and there is 128 ounces per gallon, its astronomical the amount of uses you can get out of it. Let's not forget the nice scent and efficiency you get out of it as well. As Mr. MultiTerpen pointed out as well, it's a bargain compared to the competition and we have some crazy discounted sales as well!

0:13: DON'T DO IT. We still need you here to teach us. LOL Anyway, on a more serious note, I've seen other people suggest taping a 1x1ft grid on a car and working on one cell at a time. Why do they suggest this instead of covering the entire car and then polishing? Also, I've seen on bottles of wax and polish that it says to let the product dry to a haze before buffing. Is this recommended?
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Ryan!! Thanks for your message. I recommend working in a 2 foot by 2 foot section at a time to achieve the best results. It is best to tape off sensitive surfaces that you don't want to stain with polish by taping off 1x1 sections seems excessive only because of the time taken would be too great and also the finished result may not be even. - CG Nick

Wax can be left on the surface to haze or cure for up to 15 minutes which is normal. Most polish should be removed after it has broken down and diminished into a clear liquid. Then use a clean microfiber towel to buff away spent product. - CG Nick

Is the clay bar reusable ?
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 6 жыл бұрын
Yes absolutely! The clay bar can be rolled over to reveal a fresh side. You start by breaking a small piece off and knead it in your hand until you can make a small disk that fits in the palm of your hand. Once the clay has been rolled over too many times and it's full of contamination, then it's time to toss it in the trash. You can get many uses out of the clay bar, the exception is when you have high levels of contamination that gum up the clay very quickly. Stay tuned buddy, a brand new and exciting video is launching today! C.G. Alex -

Did you say to clay the vinyl stripes
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 7 жыл бұрын
Greetings Woodrow, it's perfectly safe to clay vinyl applications, you're not sanding or polishing the material off. The only thing you want to avoid is adding shine to matte vinyl's, and polishing which would cause thinning. Stay tuned for more great videos.

why does the "polish" you used say "wax" on it?
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 7 жыл бұрын
Hey Berk, thanks for watching the video, Nick decided to use a wax instead of a polish because he looked at the Mustang and noticed that the level of scratches were very mild. It's best to look at your vehicle, and use your best judgment before polishing. Stay tuned for more video, be sure to check out our forum for more answers to all your detailing questions.

thanks for the quick reply! The reason why I was confused was because at the end of the video he said we are going to seal it and wax it. Wouldn't he be putting wax on wax? Thanks!
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 7 жыл бұрын
No worries. Slick Finish contains micro abrasives that remove very light scratches, and swirls, and contains some carnauba wax, also the Slick finish creates a smooth surface with allows you to remove excess dirt. You apply the wax at the end because it's typically a 70/30 blend of Carnauba wax that will create more protection, and add a deeper richer shine.
