Couple of suggestions Popsicle sticks - glue two together or get the paint sticks for a 5 gallon bucket. They’re thicker and would allow you to put more pressure. Water - spray the wheel with a mister so it’s just like wet sanding. Cool video

That popcycle idea was good. Try 1" X 1/4" flat steel stock from Lowes. You could shape it with a belt sander. Use srink wrap for the handle and you would have permanent tool that would deliver the pressure you need.

FYI: Unless the paint or clear coat being used is expressly made for Aluminum surfaces, you are supposed to apply an activator first to the aluminum. This is one crazy way to polish aluminum. Once the paint is removed, I always use a high speed drill with cotton polishing wheels with varying grit compounding solutions until I reach the level of shine / surface I want. But if it works for you...

Another thought...if you're going to take off all the old paint, why don't you use paint remover first? Spray it or paint it on. wait 10 minutes and pressure wash the old paint off. This way you don't waste sandpaper on the paint, only metal.
@psyolent.5 жыл бұрын
creative idea bud. next time rig up a jig with clamps or something similar pinned to the ground and then gradularly move the sticks in with the sandpaper using that and not your hands - think of how a lathe works with the headstock ; rig something up similar dude for the sanding. safer that way mate, you only get one set of fingers etc. still love your work though
