I did my own manifold for my 3.6 Chrysler 200 everybody who hearse the car now keeps asking is that supercharged nope just in house ported I ported it then hand sanded it for 2 days to perfection i even did the throttle body just for the hell of it

I ported the heck out of mine last night. This video was very helpful in giving me the confidence in taking my manifold off. The 3" Sanding wheel was hard to find at Home Depot but MAN did it put in some work on the inlet. I couldn't imagine porting the inlet without that sanding wheel. I think somehow I managed to get what looked like twice as much material out of the inside of mine than what was on your bench. I was able to get deep in there with the sanding wheel to open up the intake.

Nice! I will be doing this, instead of the dremel attachment I bought some hex grinding wheels and I’ll be using an extension on the impact driver to get deep in the ports. Hopefully everything works fine.

I've done this to cast iron cylinder heads and intake manifolds using only a dremel and tons of stones and sanding paper and polishing compounds. Took forever and then I ported and polished the intake and exhaust ports. All this on a 427 chevy for a customer, I have never wanted to do this again on another engine. But since it was 25 years ago I might just once more on my own ;)

I'm curious about the longevity of the intake afterwards since your shaving material, unlike metal this plastic is notorious for cracking. Mine cracked on my 02 4.7L Ram.

I guess it really depends on the heat cycles and how well the porting job is. Hopefully not too much plastic was removed on crucial areas.

Victor Xavier sorry about late response. I used a combination of 80 and 120. And I applied low pressure on the tools when removing plastic. Low speeds are ideal too.

dodgeboy90501 I used scrubbing bubbles max grease cleaner. Soaked in a tub of hot water and swashed it around three times. Came out clean.

Whoa Weezy I used 3/8 sanding wheel on my dremel, and I used a 3/8 wooden dowl rod wrapped with sand paper to reach all the way into the runners.

I bought the intake manifold at a Mopar swap meet in Van Nuys. Spring Fling. You can find a good intake manifold on eBay. Retail from $200 and up.

Whoa Weezy I used a cordless drill on the opening for the throttle body opening. Sanding wheel and dremel you should be able to find then at a hardware store or a welding shop. Measure the throttle body on the inside with you Caliper. Off the top of my head I can’t remember what the size was on the throttle body but just make sure you bore it evenly to in the opening. I get back to you on the actual measurement. Take your time and don’t rush it.

SRT HEMI really depends on how bad the intake was to begin with. It could be more with a ported throttle body. You could see over ten extra horses.

Scat Speed I don’t have access to an unlocked pcm or a tuner. I’m worried about the car running too lean with a cold air intake, larger throttle body and ported intake manifold.

Randy Rodriguez I asked Brian at Peitz performance the same question. He said they are both stock parts and you don’t need a tune. They’ve done it before. Build it R/T modern muscle claims 10 percent improved air flow on their ported intakes. On a stock tune with out the ported throttle body... I’ll be conservative and say 5-7 hp. We’ won’t know for sure without Dyno time.

Thank you, I managed! I ended up using a honing tool for cylinder boring and used the dedicated grit stones. The tool was like 40 bucks and is spring loaded so sands evenly on all sides of the bore! Worked great

yeah, mostly i fight against check engine lights, i have 300c, 2005, awd and made: cai, oil catch can, cleaned soot from pistons, head ported, long tube headers instaled, suitcase replaced with freeflow mufflers and rear mufflers too, cats deleted, made custom tune from diablo tuners for lpg and car is fasteron mid range, 1 second faster to 60mph-5.9, but max speed is same 248-250kmh, now i wait to contact my mechanic to install camshaft from 6.1 srt, and now i think about that plastic intake manifold to port it

This is a hack job& not the right way. You're supposed to use dye on the manifold, install in car. The dye on the heads will then allow a port match when everything is correctly blended
