the method of masking the cursor to not being able to see it and adjust the picture just by looking at it only works if you have a very good and calibrated monitor that you can trust. for regular folks, you will be better off by learning to read the histogram.

For some reason I expected to see more use of blenders internal compositor nodes, than photoshop
@maxgrey36943 жыл бұрын
Blender's compositor can do some things very well, but if you want to do a lot of editing and put effects on certain strangely shaped regions (like adjusting the exposure of one little part of the octopus' tentacle) it's much more efficient to do that in a dedicated 2d program
@squeegel39043 жыл бұрын
@@maxgrey3694 very debatable. I have used blender since 2.49b in 2008

Wait why comp in photoshop? Blender can do it, or Natron if you want to use a composite open source software

2:48 So I don't know if this would work, but instead of having to go to the file manager, right click on the file, and then click open with, you could also drag the file and drop it onto the empty part of the tabs bar in Photoshop. I've had this issue a few times where a file (not limited to OpenEXR) imports as a single layer, and doing this has usually helped save time and effort
@Gichanasa2 жыл бұрын
This is fantastic! Subcribed. Do you use DaVinci Resolve? Would love to learn your approach and methods for it.

Exactly what I needed at exactly the right time! Thanks! (Can we use gimp or Krita for the exr thingy?)
@BadNormals3 жыл бұрын
Gimp supports 32-bit exr files, but I'm not sure if it supports multilayer exr, you might have to export passes into separate files. Krita should be able to do it from my quick Google search

Out of curiosity, is there any way to automate the smart filter to apply it to all frames of an animation? I'm just barely starting out with Photoshop after previously only using blender, and I'm loving how much better my still renders look, but don't know how to get the same improvement on animations
@gabriel260807 Жыл бұрын
you can do a "action" with adjustments that you like and after do a "batch" command in the folder with all the frames.

@1:58 we can see that the color export is set to RGB. Why not set it to RGBA? Thank you for the great tutorial.
@BadNormals3 жыл бұрын
Nice to hear you liked the tutorial Cassiano! I didn't set it to RGBA because the scene doesn't have any empty spots in the background, so the alpha channel would just be solid colour and therefore pretty useless. If for example I had rendered a single object with empty background, then RGBA would be useful.

This method with render layers can be used for animations too? or is there a better method for animations? Thanks in advance!
@BadNormals3 жыл бұрын
Yes it can be used for animations as well, but for that you either have to use Blender's compositor or Blackmagic Fusion. If you're serious about learning compositing I'd recommend Fusion.

Hi, how should I bring my viewport render image to the compositor in blender?I want to add freestyle to the image rendered this way. Nice video btw.
@BadNormals3 жыл бұрын
You unfortunately cannot take your viewport render image there, you have to render it first and then add the render layers node in the compositor

But in this way you working in wrong color space in photoshop... why you do yourself so much pain? Maybe in some selected cases this could work... but there is so much pain with colors in the process. IMO is very bad idea to post proces any render.
