Where did you buy your ATF reservoir? I'm in need of possibly replacing my 92 E34's ATF reservoir and power steering pump.

Did you really need approximately 5L's off ATF before the old oil was out?? And when reattaching the retour hose after the flushing, you have to empty the reservoir once again for removing the cap (plug) from the new container (mentioned in your TIP)? Why not starting the engine to flush the old oil out in stead of turning the wheel?

The thing is you'll it will take forever to get the old fluid out of the system. I went through 5 quarts and there was still old fluid in the system. When I reattached the hose the reservoir was already almost empty so that is why that worked. Reason why I didn't do it with a started car is because the fluid will not flow in a smooth controlled stream, so you can end up with a big mess. Final word, this is not the only way to do the flush. If you want to try it another way, go for it but any problems that arise, I'm not responsible for.

I Have done my power steering flush in meanwhile. Started with loosing the drain plug under the power steering pump which empties the reservoir in one time. Then deattached a few hoses and turned the steering wheel a few times from left to right. At the end, I could fill up de reservoir with a good 1L off the 1,2L so most of the old fluid was out. Not a hard job but it is messy.

That sound like a way better way of doing it. I might have mentioned this earlier but the reason I did it the way that I did was because it was all that I could find online on how to do it.

The M30 engine does not have a lot of power but it is known for it's reliability. Rumor has it that you can go at least 300k miles without an engine overhaul (if maintained properly). The car had about 270k miles original miles.
