You shattered my dreams, Sean. I will never forgive you. you just flushed my wish down the toilet of getting up from bed one day, blasting businesses with horse shit outreach, and then writing a shit copy, 6 figures income knocking at my door. you are way too honest, that's why we love you. Now I need to do things that I actually need to do. I got some nice motivation from this video. It's an eye opener, and my first step toward success. Thanks again Sean. you are my hero. Yo what did you do to me? I wrote 5 practise pieces of 1 to 1,5 page in 3 hours straight. Piece 1 took 45 min writing + 15 mins reverse outlining. Piece 2 - 5 took 15 mins writing + 15 mins reverse outlining each. I was such in FLOW dude. And i did it using pen and paper !! And the copy is actually decent, average ! Holy moly I was transfixed in the last 3 hrs
@darioxbrow92236 ай бұрын
Pen and paper? You think that's better?
@Kyoto999526 ай бұрын
@@darioxbrow9223 To me, yes. I had to think 'but here's why: I have a bullet journal that I use to write down my thoughts and ideas. And I also have a large note bloc I use to handwrite famous ads or make notes of books I read. Here's the thing though. When I write with pen + paper I don't want to make a visual mess in the sense that I have to cross words or add words I forgot, so I write being conscious of not making grammar or spelling mistakes. (aesthetics are important to me.) But I care little about if what I write is accurate or correct. If I am wrong, I will just write ''I think I was wrong ...'' in the next sentences, without making any mess. But when I type on my laptop or notes app in my phone, that backspace button tells me ''you can remove words easily''. And I tend do that. I am second guessing every sentence as I am half writing half editing which kills any possibility for getting in flow. And it can take multiple hours for me to produce 1 piece of blog or copy, which in the end is not even that good. Also, when I write with pen + paper my brain processes what I am writing more effectively.

I'm only 30 mins in and it's already the most insightful information I have received regarding copywriting. I started playing with the idea of becoming a copywriter from 2021 taking courses, reading books and doing a lot of mostly random things over the years. But I never took it seriously enough and therefore voila: 0 clients. So yeah absolutely, I spend a lot of time studying, a lot of time on outreach going into unimportant small details like website, and very little time on actual writing and becoming good. (Let alone great!) 100% correct. Of course it's the actual skill of good copywriting that is the single most important factor that will determine success. But for some reason, I kept practising to a bare minimum and never bothered just following the process of learning. I never gave it and myself time to improve. As if I'm in a hurry to make money or be successful or something skipping the most important task and habit of actual writing. And I'm not even in a hurry to make money. I'm a real dumbass. I must put in the work. Of course. Simple as that. Thank you for calling me out like that. I needed to hear that. And I love your teaching method very much. I am actually paying attention and getting what you're saying, which is quite rare for me. (adhd) This time I'm going to do things the right way and stop messing around. Thanksss!

WOw the part about ridiculing yourself and letting yourself go as a way to have fun in the learning process so you can at least produce a practise piece, that's actually genius. Ridicule is a technique used by psychologists to help their clients overcome their fears. I just learned that I have fear of failure and stress myself thinking that every copy I write should be ''perfect''. I didn't even realize that! But having fun with things?? Oh that's easy. I am an expert at that! Thanks !! I was stuck because I thought I needed to have like a formula or template or structure that would allow me to start producing dozens of practise pieces everyday on auto-pilot. And all the different choices that exist got me so confused and.. frozen. But that's not the correct way, as you pointed out. There is no short cut for this. It takes time to get the ''feel for it'' and develop an internal mechanism to evaluate copy. This point is so CRUCIAL. It's crazy how you can watch a video and you think you understood it. And then you watch it again and realize you weren't paying attention !! What did it for me was ''the first 50 pieces are going to be crappy''. Thankssss!! You're so helpful (and unintentionally funny as well) !

"How long is a string?" There is no answer. You have to revert back to consideration 1 at the start of this video: you have to do whatever you need to do to find out what works best for you and your learning. If that's 3 hours of research? Well, then you do 3 hours of research. But as you saw at the end when I researched and wrote a practice piece... I was more interested in getting something down on the page and improving that later. The actual amount of time I researched was about 20 minutes--enough to inform me about what I was writing about. If that's all you need? Well, then do that instead.

A person who has never heard of your business is different from a person who has bought before. Because they have different sets of knowledge and different experiences, you have to write differently for them. This concept is called the "stages of awareness," and we're eventually going to have a whole masterclass on this. But in the meantime just keep in mind this: sometimes what you write will be for people who know a lot, and sometimes you will be writing for people who have never heard of your business before. So you have to write keeping this in mind.
