As a learner, this probably the best golf video I’ve ever come across. Thank you so much!

For me, the best way to use a driving range is to start with my wedges, ending with the driver, using every club in my bag. (This helps decrease the risk of injury as I'm not a young man anymore.) While I do that, I seek to hit distance and spot targets. I use what is the most natural swing for me and I find what is most natural becomes most playable. Trying to be someone else never works over the long haul and takes more energy and thought when things get a little off. It's good to take some instruction and make it your own. God bless!

My favourite challenge is to try to hit the guy in the tractor with my five iron. Actually has benefits on the course and after a long session breaks the monotony. Another great vid.
@toddles413 жыл бұрын
This is brilliant. Up until watching your video I never realized that my range sessions (especially yesterday's) were mostly block practice. I also realized by watching you that I tend to speed up my range sessions and not go through my full shot routine when going through the various clubs in my bag. This translates to rounds with a mixture of good and bad mechanics. I have a tournament on Saturday and will incorporate what I've picked up from here. Thank you!

Great vid Gen. I find that when improving your swing (with a coach), the hardest part when practicing is making sure you are doing the correct move without the coach watching your swing. I recently bought a camera stand and will hit 4 balls then record the 5th. It's a slow process but my brain thinks I made the swing change but the video will show that I didn't.
@ligaaaaaaaaaaa3 жыл бұрын
you're spot on. It's nice that you've got to mentally challenge yourself to get the moves correctly all by yourself tho
@randallsguaranteedsold63612 жыл бұрын
Agreed, and the real challenge IMO is all that time your practicing you could be grooving a mistake. Ultimately the proof on your practice is on the course, and related results. Again, I do not profess to be an expert (“see” my golf game) But, I think doing a lesson or two is helpful…and very important, directly after that lesson grab a bucket (or basket!) and try to groove that lesson right away while it is fresh in your mind/body.

I like drills where I am imagining being on a Par 4 or Par 5 hole that I am familiar with. For example, imagining a P5, I will have my Driver, #4 hybrid and 9 iron out of the bag and waiting. I get ONE ball for each club and after hitting all three shots I try to determine if I made it to the green in regulation based upon distance and accuracy of each shot. I go through this routine 10 times to determine how often (%) I make GIR. Works for me!
@ilyassapiyan38113 жыл бұрын
What I like to do is to play a game where I go through my home course in my head. So imagine I'm on the first hole and tee off. If my drive is good, I imagine how long I have to go in from the fairway and pick the right club. And the I move to the second hole. It's more time consuming as I have go change clubs and go through my pre shot routine. But it makes each shot more pressurized
@stuartcampbell46263 жыл бұрын
That's exactly what I do, except that I "play" 3-4 of my most well-known courses! It makes it fun: What course will I play today? It really does crank up the pressure, huh?!? Are you going to find that narrow fairway on hole 7? Will you avoid the water in front of the green on 10? 😉

In the first part of the video she discussed "block practice" and used the ball hung from her neck to keep her left and right forearms and elbow fairly close together during the swing. But her swing during "random practice" seemed entirely different. At 6:25 stop the video just before her club hits the ball. You will see that her hips are open 45 degrees while her shoulders are open only 10 degrees or less. Also her right heel if off the ground and she has obviously her weight to her left side. (These are great positions.) But also look at her arms and elbows. Her right elbow is low and tucked against her ribcage. However, her left elbow is pointed downrange and far from her right elbow. She seems to have hit the ball quite well. If this is the case, what is the purpose of using the hanging ball during "block practice"?

If you're just starting out again, honestly, I would spend some time at the range first, then maybe make your way out to a par 3 course, then play a proper nine then only a full round.
