Did you Know that you can swing slower but hit the ball further? In this video Danny Maude reveals how by improving your strike with driver and irons, specifically compression, you can hit the golf ball further with no extra effort.
In fact live on video he adds 20 yards to an iron shot with no extra club head speed what's so ever.
If you are like most amateur golfers and don't have the body of a Bryson De Chambeau or the club head speed of a Rory Mcilroy or Tiger Woods, then improving the type of strike you get with both your driver and irons is the single most important thing you can do to hit the golf ball further.

ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On KZbin and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

Oh man, I watched this Danny and trotted of to the range....every single iron in my bag came out and I've not heard or felt that consistency of flush strike since I bought my irons! Incredible! Such a simple method that works wonders, just need to practice my driver because I can get it 260-280 but a carry of like 225-240....anyway suffice it to say I'm very grateful for your video here and I've watched it like 5 times already haha!

Wow after all these years of playing and trying to hit harder with the “demonstrated” wrong part of the body! I quit until my next tee time. Danny this explanation of the swing sequence was like magic for me, especially the distinctions between hitting irons vs driver. I realized that it is possible to pivot my hips independent of rotating my shoulders because of the specific distinctions between the driver and the iron shots. You seem to have an uncanny ability to post a video at exactly the same time as I am struggling with that particular element of my swing. Thank you so much.

It’s incredible Danny, when you stand back at the range and see the myriad of swings. 90% are ‘all arms’. Your commentary here mimics my coach. Power and consistency comes from the lower body, not the chest and arms. The 1, 2, and, 3 count makes the routine simpler for everyone to apply. As usual a awesome video for everyone. Cheers.

Amazing. I drive it long for a club golfer but on bad days, I drive it long into the bushes, forest or OB. Or push or pull my iron shots. Usually timing is the culprit. The explanation of rhythm in this video is so helpful - with that I can get back into a decent rhythm mid-round! Thanks!

ALL GOLFERS MUST WATCH THIS!!!! Thank you Danny, with the exception of two misplaced drives, I found the middle of the fairway with my tee shots throughout the round! Also, using your brain to count or something for the rhythm can help you to stop thinking too much all the "backswing there, lower the club, swing from the inside, don't sway" etc. that will only mess your swing (and yes, I have that problem sometimes and the worse I play, the more I think... a circus inside my head through the whole swing). Have to try to start using the rhythm part again, did it at some point, but stopped for some reason 🤷‍♂️

Great video Danny. Thank you. Using gravity ( feeling the weight of the club 'carrying'' me through the swing) wasnt doing it for me. Kept trying to control the club head and the bottom of the arc at the ball . Adding this little piece of information; ''targetting the bottom of the arc a couple of feet behind the ball'' change the whole approach, timing and vision of my trigger point (where i add speed to the club head) . I now hit the ball further and straigther effortlessly using gravity and ground . Thank you again Dany and have a great day!

Hi Danny, thanks for all your videos, they really help, as a 64 year young woman who’s been playing golf since I was 17 sometimes I find it difficult to always adhere to younger pro’s advice due to arthritis etc, but if you can interpret it in such a way that it suits what you’re body will allow you to do it can certainly work. I’ve been struggling due to covid and lockdowns to get my fitness back, but thankfully I’m almost there. So I’ve been playing our courses first 11 holes, and today it just all clicked. My handicap is 19,2, and with our course rating I get 20 shots, 10 on each half, and this morning for the first time in my life I shot a gross 5 over par 39 on the first 9, so with my handicap that’s a net 29, I was absolutely gob smacked, and just wanted to say a huge thanks for all your advice.

Great video again Danny. I have no trouble doing this with my irons, I basically step into the shot and am very consistent. I got that from one of your earlier videos. However, I just went to the range and tried the driving technique where we are pushing/pivoting from the ground up. While it felt perfectly natural, I didn't have much success. Clearly I am doing something wrong. I'm watching the video again and will try again at the range tomorrow, got a round to play this afternoon. Cheers.

I have found this technique by accident trying new ways to hit the ball after loosing power after a lung cancer operation. After accidently stumbling on this idea myself I was looking for validation that this was real and found this video. In the last week I am now hitting the ball further than I ever have even when I was fully fit and in my mid 20s (25 years ago), My driver has gone from 235 to 280 literally in the space of a week and that is with a 10.5° Driver with a reg flex. Thanks for validation I thought I was going mad when I found this. My backswing feels really slow and controlled now and so does the Start of the backswing this is giving me time to really use my body better and I am now also getting an extra 15 yards out of each iron now I am learning to put speed back into the swing but the swing is so smooth now it feels effortless.

Thank you, Danny. This video has turned on the light bulb for me. I have practiced and played (twice) in the past 7 days using the thoughts and techniques you talked about in this video. I can't believe the results especially with the irons and hybrids. My shots are straighter and exploding off the club's face. The only problem I have to work, especially the driver, is trajectory. It is still too low and that is causing the less than optimal distance. My drives are in the fairway, but they are low. It must be because my attack angle is too shallow or even descending. I can solve this. I believe is it simply because the "pressure" shift in my feet is a little too quick for the driver. Again, thank you.

Danny - your illustration of the difference in downswing between the iron and driver was great. I had been using the same downswing for both and found myself too far over the ball on the downswing with the driver. Your video clearly highlighted what I needed to do different. Thank you.

Hi Danny, love your tips and your smiling face (as always)! I started playing golf when I turned 21, I am now 70 years young and now hitting that wee ball further than I did when I was 21 - how is that you may ask? Well apart from watching your tips Danny, I have started to squat and find it helps this old body to follow through fully! I watch the pro's doing it and I thought I would not be able to do that, practice helped me to achieve this, so squatting is similar in what you are showing in this tip. I would love to see you explain to us/those out here in how we/they can all achieve this swing! Thanks Danny for all you give us guys out here!

Watch all your vids and I think your the best online instructor! I am 55 and cant get any distance with my clubs. I have been lifting heavy weights 6 days a week for 40 years and I cant seem to remind my body to let the club do the work. I'd practice all your tips and yet when i hit the driving range and course, I find myself trying to crush the ball with muscle! Arghhh I'll keep trying your stuff but after 30 years of bad habits, its hard to break.

Thanks Danny. Really good as ever. I’m in my 70’s and driver swing speed is on a good day not even reaching 90mph! Realistically, what sort of distance can I expect to achieve? I do like your emphasis on body rather than arms as prime mover-it works for me but would like more(like everyone!!)
@russellfothergill9082
@russellfothergill9082 3 жыл бұрын
90 mph is pretty good I reckon. With good smash you should get 135 mph ballspeed which if your delivery is good and spin not too high will give 215 carry to 245 total. 90 mph is plenty good enough to play some very good golf
@simmo5071
@simmo5071 3 жыл бұрын
I’m a whopping 68 and would love to have 90 mph hitting the ball routinely 200 yards down the fairway. Did the video indicate more body or better foot action (weight distribution). I thought the body position was explained really well. I’m one who has a definite issue of hitting down with driver but flipping to get height.

@@simmo5071 I’m 69-1/2 and on my good days I might get my driver speed in the upper 80’s…until I start following the “Overhand Golf” and his Holy Grail method. I’m now in the middle 90’s with my average speed. I exceed 100 (102) for the first time in my life swinging at home during some practice into a net! Great lesson - as you were saying “one, two and pivot through” I was reminded of the 3:1 ratio taught in regards to tempo. This will be my mantra when working on swing tempo and getting compression. Also I love how effortless this comes across….the way a good swing should.

Hi Danny Thank You for the great video. If you look at the swing speeds of Ernie Els and the latest star on the scene Colin Morikawa. They don’t swing fast. It’s all done in a controlled motion. Surely swinging fast in an uncontrolled motion, creates bad habits, leading to tension,inconsistency and a poor swing. Thanks again Danny. Regards Stuart

Danny? I wish I could hear more and see more about the learning process from other golfers. I understand there are limitations in this form of communication, but the illusion created is that these golfers are learning all of this quickly and that certainly is not the case for me!! You do from time to time talk about these new motions feeling strange and breaking the automaticity of the old swing, but it would be nice to see a bunch of people going through the realistic process of making these changes. Every time I make videos to send you, I constantly go through the process of thinking, "No. I can do it myself. Danny says 'just do this' or just do that" and then I go through another round of realizing I'm just doing what I had done before!!! -Doug
