This was really interesting Jeff. Going to and fro from the garage, hanging out washing and bringing it back in, are also times when I also vocalise (not always) before going indoors and doing the full caboodle - keeps it all going whilst doing other jobs!

The straw trick is a new one for me...gonna play around with it today. Sometimes I'll "combine" the hum and lip trill (kind of) into a buzz sound (zzz, uses the E vowel). Another trick (not sure if it's "safe") is a vocal pillow. Any clean pillow will do, preferably lightweight yet thick (like a throw). You simple use it like a mute. Sometimes I want to belt and it's nice to feel that sensation without shaking the windows.

Hi Jeff, I just found your channel last week and I'm glad I did! This video is very helpful, especially now that I started voice lessons and will need to practice more. I live in an old apartment with wood floors so my room is one big resonator. I've resorted to singing into a pillow when I have to raise the volume. Thanks again :)
