Some years ago, I an old American woman who had been practicing the craft for decades, who referred to herself as "the crone" and raised her sons and daughters as witches (who were now raising their little boys and girls as witches💚) told me that back in the days when she started practicing as a teen, there were no books, no internet, no shops and no other witches that she knew, so she followed her dreams, intuition and inspiration, and anointed her candles either with her menstrual blood or her spittle. Now that she is a crone, she said she still uses her spittle, as it has proved to be very powefull, and she only used a little of her blood (from her finger) when she did protection and healing spells when her children or grandchildren were very ill. Does anyone have experience with any of that? Anointing my candles with a bit of spittle does appeal to me, as it is mine, it is personal, it is always available, it costs nothing, is invisible and carries my DNA signature as well as the power of the water element, but I cannot find any information about that... It also sounds so natural, wild, feminine and hedge witchy, somehow! 💚 I must say that the old witch, Debbie, is still both a beautiful memory and a huge inspiration for me.

Using personal effects (blood, saliva, hair, or even handwriting,) is perhaps the most powerful way to tie someone's energy to a spell. Wicca-based Witchcraft doesn't seem to use these things as often as oils or herbs, but personal effects are very prominent in Hoodoo, which is another great tradition of Witchcraft. @@Alusnovalotus Oohhh, THANK you, so beautiful... 🙏 I did find a way to preserve my own blood that works for me (a few I read about were quite elaborate, so I invented my own, much simpler one), and I am now using my blood as an energy signature. It DOES feel great, and very sacred - whenever I energize it, in my visualisation it always turns into glowing particles of dark gold, and it is an amazingly beautiful feeling. This has me psyched to go thrifting for candles today! I bought a huge green pillar candle. Dressed it it in basalm oil and activated it for prosperity and productivity. It sits in an old terra cotta pot and dish and everytime i need to get something done or some extra motivation i light it with a petition underneath it. I used it for a whole week once and had to stip because i was so motivated and productive that i was over taxing myself. XD

What is a basalm oil, please? Also, you only anointed it once and that is sufficient for all the times you light it? Do you put petitions under it or just light them with an intention each time? I have been wondering about that lately. Thanks.

@@aranyanifox4375 good question! I did only annoint it once. Basalm oil is an essential oil. I used it to purify and cleanse the candle. Basalm is a member of the Fir family and they are good for purifyibg and protection. I placed my petitions under the candle and when I felt I had accomplished what i had intended i would remove it and say thank you to the candle for helping me. You could burn it if you felt lead to, but i felt lead to put it under the candle. I habe found that if i go with my intuition it leads me to wonderful crafting and magical experiences. I did write a petition to help heal myself from a horrible yeast invasion. I had been doing both natural amd medical treatments and was miserable and i wote a petition in the bath, one side with all that i wanted to be and the other wth things i wanted GONE. Both physical and emotional. Then i burned it over the water and let the ashes dissolve and washed myself with it. I was noticeably better the next day.

I often blow out spell candles or pour water over it to extinguish the flame and it works great for me. 🔥 My main elements are Air and Water so that might be why. But as I see it; my breath is my life force, so slowly blowing out the flame, to me, is literally feeding the flame my life force until it becomes so filled up by the force that it goes out. And I thank the Fire element for its assistance and energy in my spell before I extinguish it, so Fire knows that its job is done. ♥️

Thank you so much, Olivia! I did my first from scratch candle magic the other day, I'd been hesitant. I don't think I did it "right" but I did enjoy it 😊 it really helped me feel better. I know it sounds crazy but all day waiting on it to burn down, I had some good thinking time and I went outside to grab something from my car and the sky was impossibly beautiful and the wind, it felt like something out of an episode of Supernatural 😂 it was overcast with low flying clouds, and the whole area was a beautiful blue because of it, and yet in the corner over my house was a beautiful sliver of sunset. I took it as a sign that everything was going to be okay and, I'd been feeling my depression a lot lately, but normally where I'd be tempted to nap, I felt energized. I ended up staying up to work on my practice and study and learn and so I'm a firm believer in candle magic, if for nothing else but to set your intentions and get your mind right. It helped me be in a better headspace! I'm on a pretty tight budget right now (nonexistent, actually) but found I had all the ingredients I needed! Right in my house. I will say one thing though: I don't believe in how people say you have to anoint a candle. I've heard a few different instructions on the direction and technique of rubbing down the candle and I just find it silly. It doesn't feel natural for me, so I don't do it that way. I decided that, someone came up with that a long time ago (or not so long ago) and decided that was the way and it caught on - it doesn't work for me in my practice. So I don't do it that way. Your videos have inspired me to make my practice my own! I'd been buying spell candles from a shop that had crystals and herbs and intentions set in and were cleansed and all under the moon, but your positive outlook on making one's practice one's own really set me up for success. I would not be this far without your kind spirit coming through in your videos, your positive energy and kindness so I wanted to drop in and say thank you 💜

Candle magic works the best for me, and seemed to truly amplify the one time I stuck the candle in a bowl of water. I had a job offer 3 days later, even though I had a LOT of blockages in my way. It's the main way I work my magic, especially when I am exhausted or struggling with mental health more than usual, as it can be quick and easy when you want to do your work, but you are just having a hard time on the struggle bus ❤️ I've also found both writing on the candle or on a petition and burning it with the candle are equally as effective, in case anyone wonders about that like I have. I dont agree with that. We blow out birthday candles... I think it blows the spell into the universe. I personally feel that "snuffing" the flame would snuff out the magick...

It's all based on personal beliefs. I personally don't believe that blowing it out cancels anything. I always blow it out, I've also never anointed my candles in anything, and I've never had a problem. Also for me the size of the candle doesn't mean anything, only the color. Do what works for you!

I use birthday candles allot. I got a pair of doll's candlestick, they are brass and looks just like what you would put on a table but they are the size of my pinky. For daily work it is very nice to have a candle that will burn down in 12 minutes so I do not have to worry about the cat getting at them and do not have to watch them for a long time. I am always so envious of you Americans who have candles in glass years, I never see them in Norwegian stores, I can order one for a big working but the shipping cost is so high it is usually not worth it, but I would love to work more with them.

I have heard.. with a taper candle you can put a pin in the candle and burn the candle til the pin falls out. I did it that way for a spell once and it worked fantastically.

I would follow along and make whatever oils you were making if you made a video! I bought a cute spice rack at an antique store that I wanted to only fill with jars that all contain something I created, and put intent into. I have a cabinet for all my herbs and ingredients but they are all store bought. So a few oils would help me fill up a little precharged and created storage separate from the base ingredient storage!

I wish your coven had a Discord Server! I do know that there is a forum but I feel like most people now have discord and use it for groups and such. It's also mobile friendly, (more so than your forum currently) which is nice for people who don't have access to a computer at all times. i use white, red, black, and green i only use white for spell casting and meditation not that it matters i just feel that white is a pure color it has a clean burn and i also add oils to the wax to create a peaceful sent for the spells and or rituals i do... the other colors are used for more in depth rituals like one on one card readings and for clearing or cleaning my surroundings all in all i doesnt matter what color as long at it is used with good intentions

This video was very informative. I've been doing candle magic for quite some time and I learned a few new things from you. I always wondered about the 7-day candles and having to leave and not wanting to leave it burn unattended. OH My FliPPIN CRAZINESS! I have those same exact mid sized tapered candlez I bought them from a place called Enchanted Tea and Herbs obviously not the same place you got yours since I'm literally arcoss the whole US from you but mine look just lile that. And the only reason I am so astonished is due to the fact I have never seen these little guys b4 I bought them at the store I got them from. I usually only see the super long skinny tapered ones or the hand made tapered candles or the 7 day cansles so seeing you have the same aize and shape candles that I recently discoveres kinda tickles me pink lol
