I was worried I'd have to buy a bunch of new parts for all the safety wiring. Thank you for the video! Now I feel I know what to expect

I don't understand why different tracks want you to prep the bike differently.. I've seen tracks require your sprocket to be wired. I enjoy your videos, just started to use your site for parts and these videos are informative.. Can you do some track day riding tips, that would be awesome. FYI, maybe use the size chart on your shirt 😋

sprocket seems excessive unless it's a one sided swing arm. also, different tracks have different requirements.

So where is the video from the track day?

It's much more lenient in the UK, especially not having to change the coolant.
@sportbiketrackgear6 жыл бұрын
Not changing the coolant surprises me a little. It is harder to clean green coolant off the surface than oil when a spill occurs. Perhaps the difference between the US and UK for track day tech is the number of lawyers we have in the US? - Van

@@sportbiketrackgear Ha Ha - you are most probably right there !!! bike is the owners responsibility in the UK, they will pull you off track if they notice something wrong but otherwise its push on !

I'm curious, why do you have to tape off the lights if you're pulling the fuses/wires? Or vice versa. I thought the intention of taping off the lights was to block the light.
@sportbiketrackgear2 жыл бұрын
The idea behind it is to prevent shattered glass or plastic from being spread in the event of a crash. - Van

Do you need to pull fuses when you disconnect turning signals, rear brake, licence plate, headlights?
@sportbiketrackgear2 жыл бұрын
If you disconnect the lights there is no need to pull the fuses. - Van

What about the psr oil cap and drain plugs that come with the clip and wire? Will those pass inspection in most cases?

This was a great video for the community of would-be trackday riders! BTW, that blue painter's tape looks good and I ain't pulling your leg either! I'd had no idea that Suzuki actually commissioned a white and black 1000r... IDK why they would do that, they end up looking like an ugly busa in white.

What's up with all this wiring? My organization says just to tape up the bike and put engine ice and I am good to go.
@sportbiketrackgear6 жыл бұрын
Every org is different and many also have different requirements for each class. The group we ride with requires safety wiring of the filter, drain plug and filler plug in advanced and intermediate only. - Van
@DominicanOps6 жыл бұрын
Out of curiosity, why for those groups and not for novice? I did my first track day last month at Palm Beach and it was a great time. Will be doing my second one in September and want to make sure I am good to go.
@sportbiketrackgear6 жыл бұрын
Most orgs will make the tech requirements for their novice group (typically this group will be for riders new to the race track) a little less difficult to pass making it easier for a new rider to get out on the track to see if this is something they enjoy or not. The bike still needs to be safe, just not held to all of the same standards as a more advanced rider who has been to the track numerous times. - Van

Sportbike Track Gear that makes sense. I did my first one on a rental and it was convenient but I will be doing my next on this September on my R6. I don't even know what tire pressure to run. Or if my tires are still good for the track. I have Power RS with about 3200 miles on 'em of Florida riding aka straight lines.

Thanks for the info Van !!! Do you think front and rear axle sliders actually do anything if you after have a big frame slider attached ?
@sportbiketrackgear6 жыл бұрын
Every bike is different and every crash is unique. I have had crashes that damaged the axle nut and others that did not. Max fell on the R3 at Barber this summer (lowside in turn 5) that left some damage on the front axle bolt. Unfortunately we did not have sliders on the axle when he fell. - Van
