Question: I hope you or someone answers this. It looks better than new and wouldn't painting the whole fender to the door result in noticing a slight color difference compared to the door with factory orange peal to boot? I have no experience. But have seen others with such a repair, only shoot base over the immediate primed repair spot, then fanning the base half to 2/3's across the fender, then clearing the whole thing.... Thanks

Hi, thanks for the useful video. There's something not clear to me though...you said you want to use a 600 grit sandpaper so the clear coat would have a good grip.But then you scuffed with the 1500 grit soft pad, so losing the good grip from the 600 grit you used before.Can you clarify that please?Thank you!

Hi mate, how long did you wait for the clear coat to dry before you wet sand and polish? Also did you sand the primer before applying the base coat as it wasn't shown in the video? Hats off to you as the final finish looked amazing 👏

@@GarageNoise I guess im looking for a video of a breakdown of the process of painting a whole car. Also what sanding techniques what type of sandpaper grit and why. What type of filler and when to use different products. I'm a bmw master tech and I want to learn autobody. So I want learn a basic understanding of the whole process. And with more experience I will learn techniques like you have in your career. Thank you again.

Was there any sanding between base coat and clear coat? Assuming outer areas wouldn’t be as smooth as repaired area
@GarageNoise
@GarageNoise Жыл бұрын
No you don't generally need to sand between base coat and clear coat. It needs to be smooth, your right. The only time you might sand is if you get a particle of dirt in your basecoat then you might lightly sand and re apply base. Appreciate the support!

Is 500 grit sufficient for a final sanding grit before sealer, base, and clear? I notice you stop at 600 grit. I'm just wondering if I'm setting myself up for visible sand scratches with 500 grit.
@GarageNoise
@GarageNoise Жыл бұрын
It's Probly ok. I routinely used 400 to prep for paint and clear until I noticed a slight distortion in my metallic orientation after base. So now just to be safe I use 600 or 800.
@livedeliciously
@livedeliciously Жыл бұрын
@@GarageNoise Thank you! This confirms what I read about pearls or metallics in that they usually need a finer surface to lay down properly.
@GarageNoise
@GarageNoise Жыл бұрын
@@livedeliciously Definitely 600 is safe for metallics. Even better if you use a wet bed before base check out some of my videos on using a wet bed I think you'll find it useful.

Why didn't you remove the taping paper from the car before you buffed out the clear? Your repair area shouldn't look better or worse than the rest of the cars finish.that way you can see if how much buffing you'll need and if the color matches.I know as professional body man you know this.all your steps were all correct
